Doctor insights on: What causes heart palpitations in the morning
Having on and off heart palpitations since last week. My heart races when I walk and when I wake up in the morning and when the weather is hot. Cause?
Time to see a doctor: A young woman who feels palpitations should be checked by her primary care doctor (family medicine or internal medicine, not Ob-Gyn) to make sure her body is ok from a general check-up point of view, and to listen to her heart. It could just be that she is out of shape and trying to exercise herself back into shape. But, it could also be that her heart is beating irregularly for another reason. ...Read more
Palpitations is the symptom, not the diagnosis. They are the 'abnormal awareness of the beating heart'. This can include the heart going to fast, too slow, too hard, irregularly, skipping a beat. You Must See Your Dr:
Night shift workers have more palpitations and heart problems than non-shift workers. Partly this may be due to increased stress and sleep deprivation associated with night shift work. But also the night shift interferes with your bodies biological clock (circadian rhythm); which in turn is synched to daylight and darkness.

On Bupropion SR 100mg once in the morning. On day 5 now and I'm having noticeable heart palpitations. Will they go away? When? Is it causing damage?
BIG question?: What is your caffeine intake? This side effect may occur with wellbutrin (bupropion) BUT you are much more likely to have problems with this medication if you have significant caffeine intake. I have some of my patients taper down their caffeine use before they begin wellbutrin (bupropion). Using propranolol together with fluoxetine can cause irregularities in heartbeats. Using wellbutrin (bupropion) with Propranolol can increase ...Read more
I'm weening myself off Prevacid (lansoprazole) with the help of a Betaine/Pepsin HCL pill every morning. It helps but I now have heart palpitations. Side effect?
Betaine HCL/pepsin: There are no reported cases on palpitations but theoretically the pepsin/HCL combo could have negative vagal feedback (vagus stimulation produces pepsin on our stomach). The vagus nerve via parasympathetic stmulation slows the heart and if it is inhibited there could be increase heart rate. You could try stopping the meds and seeing if palpitations stop. Check B6, folate (folic acid), B12. F/U with doc. ...Read more

No: Haven't heard of onion palpitations. Green onions and yellow onions aren't spicy enough to create the excitement that might lead to sensations of palpitations.
