Explanation: Yes, it most likely related. Continue investigation with your doctor.
Not looking for diagnosis just ideas, Iseeing my doc in jan, 22/m some weaknes in left arm and leg comes and goes, hand cramps, twitching, als?
You're right No Dx: You are absolutely correct. On the basis of what you have presented no diagnosis is actually possible much less placing ALS as a possibility. Your age and the fact that you are saying weakness comes and goes on one side of your body puts that off the table. Interesting: Writing for 30 minutes should be well tolerated at your age. Are you taking narcotic medications because you have been injured and are just resuming your writing activities? Muscle, nerve, motor control and congenital (spastic) conditions can create problems. Talk with your doctor about the problem. Get tested for acquired nerve problems from Carpel Tunnel Syndrome if you have numbness too.
Not sure: Not sure what you mean by mallet exercises. If you are referring in drum mallets, or something similar, then you can develope hand cramping. This can be caused by overuse, nerve compression, or rarely circulation problems. Make sure you warm up properly for 2-5 minutes, then begin your mallet exercises. Stop before you get cramping and rest. Then repeat cycle.

See an occupational: Therapist. Some kids & teens have problems with proprioception (sensing where body parts are in relation to each other) & kinesthesia (sensing where body is in space). When this information doesn't get transmitted to the brain easily, kids grip pens & pencils differently & tightly to get pain fibers to send the message. It works, but it causes cramps. An ot can help you with a solution.

No: Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory medication. Muscle cramps happen from causes other than inflammation (and there are many). If you get the cramps frequently it would be a good idea to see a doctor to find the cause. A few things to try on your own would be magnesium supplements or epsom salt soaks, warm compresses, or massage. Also pay attention to whether you might be dehydrated.

22/male constant hand cramps no weakness, what are chances it could be ALS, it does not run in my family? Need some peace if mind please!!
Rest easy son: With just hand cramps as your symptom and no family history of ALS I would say that Killer Krill that hunt giant Sperm Whales found in the ocean would be more likely to exist than you having ALS with that presentation. In other words, just work on UNcramping your hands a little which could be stress and so forth. If you were inconsolable over this then, see a neurologist to check you over.See 1 more doctor answer

Right arm weak my hand cramps up and my fingers get cold why is that and worse at times if I bend my arm any reasons why?
Nerve and or artery: More details about exactly which fingers and which parts of the get-go would help. Is the problem precipitated by cold weather or be in a cold room? To the fingers change colors? Does your "funnybone" get "hit"a lot? What other circumstances or activity calls or exacerbate the problem and what relieves it?
22 year old male having some hand cramps and leg cramps, can it be ALS? It does not run in my family by the way?
Cramps: Can be caused by many conditions (electrolyte imbalance is probably the most common). Once can see muscle cramps at some stages of ALS but this disorder is quite uncommon and would more likely present with weakness initially. Ask your doctor to have a look at you and if the diagnosis is not revealed with an exam and simple blood tests by all means seek the opinion of a neurologist regarding ALS
Painful lump on index finger. Started on palm but now on distal side. Wrist is painful also. Can bend without pain but can not grip and hand cramps.
Get a Grip.: It sounds as though you may be experiencing the beginning symptoms of carpel tunnel syndrome. This problem is best addressed early. To remove all doubt, consult with a hand surgeon.
My 13 yr old dgt is a competitive baton twirler and extremely active! After sweating profusely, she gets leg & hand cramps. She drinks lots of h2o!
22 year old Latino, what are the chances for me to get ALS, does not run in family, I have hand cramps runs up my arm? Need some peace of mind plz
Very rare: ALS has gotten a lot of press lately due to the ice bucket challenge. In reality, it is an extremely rare disease. In the US, about 5, 000 people (out of 300, 000, 000) are diagnosed per year. Hand cramps are not part of the symptom progression of ALS. Nothing is impossible, but it is very unlikely you have the disease. Hope this helps!See 1 more doctor answer
