What could cause hot flushes in my face, neck and arms in the afternoon and lightheaded sensation, it doesn’t happen every day, but it is common.
Flushing: many thing: The main causes are hot flashes, hyperthyroidism, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder. Other causes include morphine withdrawal, and menopause. Also in the list are emphysema, a gastric or pancreatic tumor, anaphylaxis, lupus, sotos syndrome, and woodhouse-sakati syndrome. I am most concerned about the flushing on your cheeks and chest as some women can get a severe allergic reaction to this medication. I've started taking magnesium and vit B6 tablets and have since had two spells of dry flushing on face, arms and chest. Could the tabs cause this?
Very unlikely: When given IV magnesium can cause a warm flushing sensation deep within, not on the skin, but I've never heard of this happening with oral magnesium as one doesn't get a high level in the blood at once. B6 will not cause this. The only vitamin that causes flushing is b3 in the Niacin form (not as niacineamide) so this is almost certainly a coincidence unless it's an unusual reaction to excipients. ...Read more
