What does multiple bilateral ovarian follicles mean on abdominal ultrasound?

What does multiple bilateral ovarian follicles mean on abdominal ultrasound?

Normal finding: Ovarian follicles are where eggs develop. During a normal cycle, many eggs start to develop in these follicles until one of them (or sometimes more, in the case of twins/triplets) pops out. "popping out" is ovulation. When many follicles are seen on ultrasound, it just means they were able to see lots of them developing prior to ovulation. ...Read more

Early follicles.: Follicles start small and grow throughout the month. They are usually a little bigger than 2cm when they release the egg. A subcentimeter follicle would be less than 1cm and implies an early cycle follicle. It is neither bad nor good. It is normal in a normal cycle. If you have pcos, then it is very common to have many early follicles, but they may not ovulate. Normal ovaries are 2 to 4cm. ...Read more

I Have cysts in my ovary and every time follicle become cyst and ovulation does not occur.my all lab reports are normal.how i cure cysts?

It's complicated: Cysts can't be cured, but they can be prevented. It depends on the type of cyst. If it's a functional, or ovulation cyst, it should resolve on its own. A Progesterone after ovulation will tell if you are ovulating ...Read more
