Sounds like: Nerve irritation or injury that could be coming from your neck seem a very likely explanation for these symptoms. Assessing if neck position change the symptoms might help. A good neurological history and competent examination should sort this out. The pulsating might also suggest a vascular contribution though that can be a pain associated with nerve compression as well. ...Read more

Radiculopathy?: This could be a nerve being compressed in the neck or even referred pain from the shoulder. These symptoms often resolve in time but if no better with otc meds after a week or so then get checked out by your pcp. A trial of physical therapy may help.
