Itch and lump: Itching followed by the appearance of a lump suggests an allergic reaction(angioedema) or an insect bite. These should not be very tender to the touch,however. See your Physician or a podiatrist if symptoms persist. ...Read more

Have it checked: Clearly, anytime a lump develops, that increases in size and pain with ambulation, it needs to be checked out. I recommend surgical excision of any mass that is painful and increasing in size with time. Routinely, the specimen that is excised is sent to the pathology lab. ...Read more

You (s)choose: I look at it this way. The slightly bruised lump was caused by: 1. Pressure on your toe with absolutely no involvement with the shoe. 2. Pressure on your toe caused by the toe and the shoe. 3. Pressure on the toe caused only by the shoe, having nothing to do with the toe's activity. I'm betting on number 2. ...Read more

The soles of my feet are getting painful lumps when i walk in flipflops. Also recently, my lips get excessively swollen when i bite inner lip by accident (during eating). Are these related causes?

Correlation?: It these two issues are related, it isn't readily apparent. It sounds as though one issue is trauma to the lip with eating. If this is a chronic problem - has it been assessed by denta/ oral surgeon? Standard flip flops provide little protection or padding to the soles of the feet. Have you considered footwear that offers more support and protection? ...Read more
