FRACTURE?: With this type of ankle/foot inversion injury, there is a possibility of a 5th metatarsal fracture. And true, it could just be swelling from the rolling. Get an x-ray to be sure. ...Read more

Sounds like: a GANGLION (the protrusion of a tendon and its sheath) which can be intermittent (It does not "show" on routine xrays...an MRI might detect it if it becomes a problem (pain ,interference with ambulation) Hope this helps! Dr Z ...Read more

Fractured bone: After wearing a cast for a fracture, there is a lump of bone called a bone callus that can sometimes be felt overlying the fracture. Your Orthopedist or Podiatrist should discuss with you post fracture Physiotherapy to help reduce the pain and swelling. ...Read more

Ball of foot pain: Sorry to hear, yes you should see a doctor and refer to a specialist for xrays and exam. What size ball....: Issues of "chronic" pain cannot be easily resolved without first discovering the history and true nature of the pain and it's chronicity. The ball of the foot means different things to different people. Does it involve just the first metatarsal or all five.
