There: There could be a new injury or an old one between the joints is a very vague description' the lump may be secondary to inflammtion from an injury or a sign of chronic swelling from an old injury ie it could be an old ligament, injury and old fracture of a bone such as the scaphoid. It could be arthritis. Its too hard to tell based upon the story. One common problem is a ganglion which are not typiically painful when they are large. Tendinitis or gout can be very painful at times and can prsent with a lump form swelling as well it sounds like you need to see a hand surgeon and be evaluated and get some xrays.

Why is it that when I touch water like for washing dishes and etc, my hands get red, and tough?

Why is it that when I touch water like for washing dishes and etc, my hands get red, and tough?

Try lotion: Warm water and soap remove the oils in your skin. This may lead to red chapped skin. In some, this can be quite severe and is called dyshidrotic eczema. Things that can help: Avoid getting soap on your hands, wear kitchen gloves when washing, apply hand lotion after washing.

Can I get rabies from bringing in my trash cans? Raccoon got in trash a couple of weeks ago and I always have cracks in my hands from washing dishes

Can I get rabies from bringing in my trash cans? Raccoon got in trash a couple of weeks ago and I always have cracks in my hands from washing dishes

No: In order to get rabies you need to have been bitten by the animal and it's infected saliva being introduced underneath your skin. Just make sure to wash up, but you needn't worry about rabies from the trash can itself.

While washing dishes, tingling appeared first on fingertips of both hands then on lips. First episode. Lasted a few min. Please suggest a work up?

Recommendation: So far, you need a watchful observation, you have to figure out if this occurred after a busy day, or related to some form of excitement, or frustration. If it happens again, and you will figure out the relation to something or nothing, you must visit your primary doctor, and they will figure out what work up you require.

Will I get tetanus? My kitchen knife poked me in the hand while I was cleaning meat. Had little rust on it from being in dish drainer, Never been outside

Will I get tetanus? My kitchen knife poked me in the hand while I was cleaning meat. Had little rust on it from being in dish drainer, Never been outside

Check vaccine status: Check your vaccine status. You probably have had your routine tetanus shots. You need to get a booster at least every ten years. If there were truly rust on the knife, I might consider getting a booster tetanus vaccine, but would be more concerned about infection from cleaning meat and then having a knife injury. Let your doctor see you. Good luck

Every time I finish washing dishes or washing my hands and my arm gets wet I get this rash looking thing on my arm that burns a little bit. Why?

Every time I finish washing dishes or washing my hands and my arm gets wet I get this rash looking thing on my arm that burns a little bit. Why?

Rash after washing: If the skin of the arms and hands is dry, it can be easily irritated by dish detergents, soaps and hot water. Moisturizing regularly should help improve this, as will using rubber gloves with cotton gloves inside them for doing housework. If only rubber gloves are used, hands will sweat inside them and still be irritated. Other products that irritate hands include sanitizing gels.

Why is top of my hands burning&rash? Allergy reactions from doing laundry, wash dishes, or just dry? I've tried using lotion but it made worse.

Option: Best to see a doctor. But for over the counter option try benedryl cream or the lowest cortisone ointment for itchiness. Please read side effects and consult pharmacist before purchasing. If still itchy, must go see doctor.

I got six stitches in my pinky finger on sunday morning from slicing my finger open while doing dishes. Will it leave a scar? When can I get them out?

I got six stitches in my pinky finger on sunday morning from slicing my finger open while doing dishes. Will it leave a scar? When can I get them out?

Stiches: First, without seeing the wound or the stitches it is definitely impossible to tell you if you will scar. I would believe you may very well have a faint scar. Most stitches are removed from day five to ten.

My hands tingles after hot showers or washing dishes with hot water it may last for complete 1 day, what are the causes for that?

My hands tingles after hot showers or washing dishes with hot water it may last for complete 1 day, what are the causes for that?

Hmmmm...: That is certainly a new one for me! I've only been a doc for 30 years, so I'm still learning. Maybe another doc on this forum will recognize the cause right off. However, it is certainly not normal, and if it is new, you need to get checked and find out why. Tingling can have lots of causes, including vitamin deficiencies. But the hot water factor & length of symptoms is a puzzle??? See doc!

I washed my hands and dishes with Pine Sol is this product toxic, if some of it was still left on dishes or hands will I be poisoned?

Doubtfully toxic: I would contact the manufacturer of this cleaner for the most accurate information. I would doubt that toxicity is an issue but definitely irritation of the skin or GI tract is possible. Good luck!
