What Can I Take With Claritin During High Allergy Season
I take Zyrtec (cetirizine) every morning to help with seasonal allergies and now cats. By bedtime I'm itchy and can't sleep. Is there something else I can take?
Allergies occur when your immune system is triggered by envirionmental factors it should ignore--for example, pollen in the air, or dander on a cat or dog--and creates cells to fight against them. An allergic reaction typically causes itching, congestion, or drainage, and ...Read more
Good skin care: Be gentle to your skin: use dove white bar unscented soap for bathing, keep the water lukewarm (never hot), and liberally apply moisturizer (cerave cream is one of my favorites) after bathing. You may consider using an oral antihistamine like zyrtec (cetirizine) as well. ...Read more
I suffer by hayfever and allergies spring is coming and I was wondering if it's ok and safe to take Zyrtec-as needed- with venlafaxine an clonazepam ?
My allergies are out of control! i already take 180mg of allegra (fexofenadine). What can I take along w/allegra (fexofenadine) to help them?I'm allergic to some trees an grasses.
Lots of choices: Allegra is an antihistamine, so you would want to choose some rx from other classes of medications. Nearly all of your other choices would be prescriptions. Nasal steroid sprays, nasal antihistamines, oral leukotriene inhibitors can all be helpful as prescribed by your physician or health professional. About the only other possibly helpful rx otc would be Nasalcrom that is a nasal spray. See md. ...Read more
If I start taking allergy shots, can I stop using an inhaler before running? * The inhaler (with albuterol) is only used during high pollen seasons.
Possible: Since only 80% of the people respond to allergy shots, you may be able to avoid using albuterol before exercise if you are in the 80% group. However the probability is likely under 10% . Try exercising without using the albuterol and see what happens. Do realize that allergy shots usually take several months to provide benefit and controlling your nasal symptoms may improve asthma as well. ...Read more

If I'm having severe allergy issues due to very high pollen levels, is it okay to take a double dose of claritin (loratadine)?
You can, but: Not recommended, unless under medical supervision, besides doubling up on antihistamines isn't the answer, allergy treatment needs to be comprehensive, unfortunately, there is no magic bullet. OTC nasal steroids and saline nasal washes can help initially besides antihistamines,in addition to environmental control/avoidance if possible,if not controlled, check aaaai.org or acaai.org for an allergist ...Read more

What is a natural, effective way to treat seasonal allergies? I've been taking Benadryl at night for post nasal drip. I'm also taking Flonase daily. I find my allergies are much worse in the evening.
Seasonal allergies: Most allergy symptoms become worse or act up at night, what you currently take isn't controlling your symptoms, and the post nasal drip can be due to sinusitis as well. You need to see an allergist for evaluation and better control of your symptoms, meanwhile: saline nasal washes, make sure you are using flonase right and use it daily, instead of benadryl, take cetirizine or loratadine daily too ...Read more

Beside, photosensitivity may signal diseases other than PMLE like porphyrias that warrant you get checked before self overmedicating for a possibly wrong condition. ...Read more
