Absolutely!: Hi. I hate to assume, but I'm forced to here. I will assume you're type 2. Type 1's MUST take insulin; tight control with insulin is associated with weight gain. For type 2's, the weight loss drugs are GLP-1 agonists (marvelous & amazing) & SGLT-2 inhibitors; metformin is weight neutral. I use a ton of GLP-1's, SGLT-2's, and/or metformin in combination. I would avoid them: Other than alli, which most patient don't like because of side effects (greasy stool), these agents are generally not approved for long term use because of unknown safety. And in my experience, everyone who takes them and then stops gains the weight right back. They are just not a good solution in the long run.
