What can I give a 6 week old for fever 99.6?

What can I give a 6 week old for fever 99.6?

Just monitor: It would be prudent to continue monitoring the child without givng a med that could mask a problem. For the first 8 wks we worry about babies that might have picked up a germ at delivery that finally invaded the blood & could cause blood poisoning or meningitis.Any rectal temp >100.4 deserves an immediate trip to the er.If just warmly wrapped, lay out & see if temp comes down on its own-then no pbm. ...Read more

6 week old slight fever what can I give her?

See a doctor: If you are checking temperature in a 6 wk old it should be done rectally for it to be accurate. Introduce digital thermometer in the anus so that all of "silver part" is barely inside. My 6 week old son is very congested has a bad wet cough and as of right now has a fever of 99.5 degrees f what should I do?

My 6 week old son is very congested has a bad wet cough and as of right now has a fever of 99.5 degrees f what should I do?

See the pediatrician: A baby under 2 months of age may be sicker than their overall appearance may indicate. While a temperature of 99.5 f is not a fever (that would be a temperature over 100.4f), your description of his cough is worrisome. He should see his doctor asap. Also, second hand smoke exposure can may breathing more difficult for babies and children. ...Read more

M.D. follow up.: Infants who are premature are more prone to respiratory distress if they catch a cold. If she is fussy it could indicate a number of conditions, including hunger, infection, reflux. I would advise having her checked by her physician. She will have her oxygen saturation test done at the office. ...Read more

My 6 week old daughter has not had a bowel movement in 24 hours. Her pees are normal no fever. Breast and formula fed. What should I do?

My 6 week old daughter has not had a bowel movement in 24 hours. Her pees are normal no fever. Breast and formula fed. What should I do?

Bowel Movement in: Infant. They may go from several times a day to once a week. It is very much a variable thing. The idea that an infant has to go everyday or they are not " normal" is just not true. Think about how different we all are as adults. As long as baby does not have a rock hard tender abdomen, no fever, is eating well, and not tearing its little bum when it goes it is okay. What goes in will come out. ...Read more

What can I give my 4 year old that has a fever and cough and congestion? Mom just had the flu 2 weeks ago.

No cold/cough med: Most pediatricians do not recommend cough or cold medicine for young children. These medicines have never been proven to be of benefit, and can have some pretty major side effects. It is ok to give a 4 year old a teaspoon of honey as needed for cough. Nasal saline spray is helpful for nasal symptoms. Fever reducer is ok, but if the child has fever for >24h or seems very sick, see a doctor. ...Read more
