What Can I Expect Taking The Emsam Patch
Well tolerated: Everyone is different. I have had many people on the Emsam patch and have not had any difficulty with dietary interactions. At 6 mg/24 hours there is no fda warning. At 9 & 12 there is but the amount of tyramine containing food you would need to ingest to have an issue is huge. Most tolerate it very well. Avoiding cold preps can be a pain this time of year. Patch site irritation is usually mild. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What are the most likely discontinuation (withdrawal) symptoms for Emsam? Is there any information about Emsam discontinuation available online?
Most likely=none: While many people experience a discontinuation syndrome from SSRI's and SNRI's (usually irritability, "electric shock" sensations), I am unaware of any reported with EMSAM or seligiline. However, especially in higher doses, all MAO inhibitors should be discontinued AT LEAST 10 days before starting another antidepressant, to avoid hypertension and even hypertensive crisis. ...Read more
How long should it take for side effects to go a away after stopping 9mg Emsam? Also how long after stopping selegine should side effects subside.
Emsam: This question gets a little tricky because Emsam is a patch and elimination can be delayed because of tissue uptake of the drug. Generally, the FDA has advised a wash out period of at least 5-7 days on average. Although the effects of the drug should diminish gradually before this amount of time. Hope that helps! ...Read more

What to do if i'm on the butrans patch and was wondering if i wld get busted for taking Suboxone along with the patch?
What is the point?: Why are you getting care for pain with a Buprenorphine patch and then adding to it? The amount of Buprenorphine in the patch is extremely small, relative to what is in a Suboxone tablet (2 to 8 mg). If you aren't honest with your physicians, how are they supposed to be helping you? If they do quantitative urine testing, they will see that the amount of Buprenorphine is higher than it should be. ...Read more

I am prescribe the pain patch. Its delivers 50mg of th medicine for 72 hours. I want to stop taking. Because I am sick of problems, how to i withdraw?
Fentanyl Patch: It sounds like you are on the fentanyl patch - 50ug. The best way to get off this medication is by a very slow wean. I certainly would suggest you follow up with you prescribing doc. Most likely you will drop to a 25 patch for about 1-2 week, then even a 12.5 patch for 1-2weeks, then stop. Again pls follow with a doc - withdrawal is no fun. ...Read more
First 24 hrs of taking the butrans 10 patch and no pain relief can I take something on top of this until it kicks it for instance hydro 5 until it sta?
Talk to MD, RPh: prescribers SHOULD know that pain patches may take 24-36 hours to get to levels that may relieve pain, and they also should advise you as to what you can take while the medication is kicking in. Usually, a low dose of a short-acting rapidly absorbed opiate like hydrocodone is reasonable for that short period of time, but I do not know your history, what other meds you are on etc., so can't advise. ...Read more
