Why would you do it: I would not do this as we do not know what you put in the water. PLease use plain water and not something that is abnormal. Usually, what feels to you like kidney pain is really a muscle pain that should clear on its own. Does it change with movement or bending, or with meals? More likely muscular: If by "kidney area" you mean mid-back to one side or the other, I would think that it is more likely that you're feeling symptoms related to the musculature of the back, e.g., muscle spasm, than due to the kidney.
