My three month baby he chest cold since a month now it rattles on his chest when he breaths CAn u tell me what to do also he spits up when he burps i?

See a physician: Hello. I would recommend that your baby be seen by a medical provider to make sure that the "cold" hasn't settled into his chest, creating something like pneumonia. Babies don't have the ability to clear their mucus like you and I do, so it's important to have him examined. Also, throwing up can be a sign that it has settled in his chest, too. ...Read more

My 3 month old won't stop cry and coughing she is so congested she can't breath or sleep can I give her cough medicine just for the weekend?

No: A 3 month old baby can not have cough medicine. You can steam up the shower and then sit with her in the bathroom, you can elevate the head of the crib she sleeps in or even let her sleep strapped into the car seat. You can use nasal saline drops and suction. Please take her temperature and if it is more than 101 F or she is not eating her milk well, take her to the ER. ...Read more

My 15mo old daughter is extremely congested to where she gags when she coughs. We don't have a humidifier, how else can I help her?

Extra humidity: You don't need a humidifier to do extra humidity, which is by far the best thing for her. Boil water on your stove all day, go in the bathroom, close the door and turn on the shower and sit in there for 15-20 minutes every few hours. Use cheap saline drops (just salt water) to clean out her congested nose - she won't like it as you do it, but makes a huge difference after. Finally, lots of cuddles. ...Read more

My 8 month breastfed baby seems happy but has a cough and I have been diagnosed with walking pneumonia. He has a rattle when we breathes. What to do?

Talk to the doctor: Many infants cough. Most often, it comes from inhaling milk at least occasionally. Sometimes they catch germs, such as viruses, from a brother or sister or parent. Talk to your son's doctor to see what needs to be done, if anything. Be sure to wash your hands well and cover your coughs while you are sick. A rattle in the chest often means there is mucus in the lungs -- bronchitis or pneumonia. ...Read more
