Humidifier & TLC!: Colds in babies can be so hard because there are not many medicines that are safe to use. A simple cool-mist humidifier with plain water can work wonders for your baby's congestion and cough. Also, saline nose drops/spray is really helpful for the stuffy nose. Fluids/monitor: Your 8 mo is due for 5-7 uri's/yr to age 5 ; most can be monitored at home. Playful times/fluid intake enough to wet diapers every 6hr/breathing not too noticable all suggest home care ok. Nasal suction: Use saline nose drops (available over-the-counter) to loosen up the mucous and use a bulb syringe to suction out the nose before each feeding and before laying him down.
