I have Vaginitis, Can I use Lamifen or Fucicort cream to calm the Irritatation and pain?
I'm too shy to visit a doctor.

See doctor anyway: Good grief. It would be a wild guess to advise on the problem. See your doctor. Why would you be embarrassed??? Trust me on this: whatever doctor or clinic you see has cared for innumerable women with such symptoms. Don't be dumb: suck it up and just do it. ...Read more

If I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginitis and uti, why did the doc only gave me meds for uti?

If I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginitis and uti, why did the doc only gave me meds for uti?

Depends: It really depends on your symptoms. If you have primarily UTI symptoms, like frequency and urgency, it is reasonable to treat the UTI only if you have no symptoms of vaginitis, like odor and vaginal discharge. To avoid interaction of medications, he may want to treat you for the UTI first and re evaluate you after to see if you need another treatment for bv. He also may have forgotten. ...Read more

HELP Saw doctor and said I have vaginitis. I'm extremely sore/hurts to even sit or walk. I have a constant pain/hurts to wipe. Medication didnt work.

Something else: Vaginitis just means ur doc saw it looked sore. if it has been a few days since taking your med and not improving, I am worried you were treated for the wrong thing. Also, sometime things like herpes don't come out to the surface until later. Sorry, if you are not getting better, go back! make sure you got all STD testing too, depending on your situation.. ...Read more

Can you pick up a bacterial vaginitis from a doctor's office while having a Pap smear ?

Can you pick up a bacterial vaginitis from a doctor's office while having a Pap smear ?

Not likely: The only way this could happen is if the office re-uses speculums (the devices to open the vagina to inspect inside) without washing them between patients; or pelvic exams in rapid succession without changing gloves between patients. Both these are very unlikely. Most doctors use one-time disposable speculums, and hard to imagine not changing gloves. But if in doubt, ask the doctor about it. ...Read more

Doctor prescribed Diflucan, but doesn't think I have a yeast infection (Vaginitis) + back, flank pain. Safe to use when I have an extra heartbeat?

Safe, but needed?: Something doesn't compute. Fluconazole (Diflucan) is only effective against yeast and would have no effect on any other kind of vaginitis. Also, vaginitis plus back and flank pain is worrisome for potentially serious non-yeast infections. Having said all that, fluconazole shouldn't cause any problem with cardiac arrhythmia ("extra heartbeat"). Discuss with your doctor! ...Read more
