What can I do about the breast augmentation scar that is now hardening?

What can I do about the breast augmentation scar that is now hardening?

Compression/massage: Scars continue to remodel/mature for up to a year after surgery. Once healed, scars begin to harden and become red/raised before softening up again. Manual scar massage is highly effective. Other topical compression modalities also exist such as taping (with paper tape), silicone gels or sheets. These are available via the internet or at plastic surgery offices. Examples are mederma and scarfade. ...Read more

Scars: Plastic surgeons still make scars. We like to place them in places that are less noticeable, (in wrinkles, contrast lines, etc;). Take care of your incision and scar so as to give yourself the best chance of a less noticeable scar. http://www.jjrothmd.com/procedures/breast-augmentation. ...Read more

Are there scars left post breast augmentation procedures?

Are there scars left post breast augmentation procedures?

Yes: There is always going to be a scar after a surgical procedure. How a scar heals and fades is unique to each person, and can take up to a year. Scars for a breast augmentation can be hidden in the breast fold (underneath the breast), around the areola (dark skin around the nipple), or in the armpit. ...Read more

See you surgeon!: Pain and redness following surgery can indicate a number of things including infection. If treated early, you may be able to avoid removal of the implant. However, if left untreated it can progress to a worsening infection and the potential need for IV antibiotics and temporary implant removal. You definitely need to consult with your surgeon about this. ...Read more

You need to be sized: Your plastic surgeon will take measurements to determine what size implant will fit your body appropriately. You should try placing that size implant into your bra to determine if that size implant produces the look that you want. From there, you may select an implant that is smaller or larger, as desired. http://www.dassmd.com/breast-augmentation/index.html. ...Read more

I would like to get a breast augmentation. Any ideas on going about this?

Consult: Go see a board certified plastic surgeon. The asps and asaps websites have them listed. See a few before making a decision. Go over their before/after photos. Ask questions. Remember this is elective surgery. The patient is in the driver's seat. Together, you and the plastic surgeon will review the goals and see if they are obtainable. http://www.jjrothmd.com/procedures/breast-augmentation. ...Read more

Is it possible for me to get breast augmentation to size b (saline) at the age of 17 and 8 months? I'd like to know about the usa as well as the uk.

Is it possible for me to get breast augmentation to size b (saline) at the age of 17 and 8 months? I'd like to know about the usa as well as the uk.

USA differs from UK: In the USA, the FDA has implied "indications" for saline implants at 18 or older, and for gel implants, 22 or older. I, for one, do not understand the reason for this edict. Both types of implants come in multiple sizes, but the final breast size is determined by not only what size implant is used, but what volume of breast tissue the patient started with. Can you tell me about regrets from getting silicone breast augmentation?

Can you tell me about regrets from getting silicone breast augmentation?

High satisfaction!: Breast augmentation clients are among the happiest patients we work with in plastic surgery. When this procedure is performed by an experienced plastic surgeon on a patient with realistic expectations, the results are almost always very positive. Problems arise when there are unrealistic expectations, the patient is doing the surgery for the wrong reason, or the physician is simply not qualified. ...Read more
