Arthritis will cause similar symptoms with a more frequent occurrence, happening repeatedly after seconds rather than every 20-30 minutes. ...Read more

Get an xray: You should probably get this looked at and get an x-ray. An orthopedic or podiatric surgeon could help you. There are many ligaments to the ankle and foot. They all need to be evaluated. If an x-ray doesn't show a problem, you may need an MRI or a CT scan. It could be an ankle sprain or a syndesmotic injury or a Lisfranc injury or an undiagnosed fracture. ...Read more

Ankle pain in both feet for past 1 & 1/2 years near outer talus. Popping, no swelling. Pain so bad that I limp every day at work. Daily ice water soak?
Pain on the outside aspect of ankle? Is it behind the outer ankle bone?
Possibly a peroneal tendinitis. There is a peroneus longus muscle tendon that runs behind the outer ankle bone (fibula, lateral malleolus).
This usually occurs due to overuse, meaning a patient/athlete does repetitive activities that irritate the tendon over long periods of time.

My toe nail fungus has progressed to very swollen feet and ankles with (dead skin?) or some solid white stuff popping out everywhere. Need help! Jim
Tophaceous Gout: Tinea unguium (fungal nail infection) is very unlikely to be involved in the swelling. I would work you up for high uric acid levels and send some 'white stuff' in for dark field microscopy (putting the sample in absolute alcohol and not formalin). Assuming this is gout, you need to be placed on a xanthine oxidase inhibitor to deal with the uric acid levels which cause gout. ...Read more
