Hi. Can a women or a men develop HPV without sexual contact. If the couple has it does it mean that one of the two slept with someone else who has it?

Hi. Can a women or a men develop HPV without sexual contact. If the couple has it does it mean that one of the two slept with someone else who has it?

HPV transmission: Although HPV is mainly considered a sexually transmitted disease, there is some evidence of some transmission during exposure during rough play such as wrestling or contact sports. This is one of the reasons the Gardasil vaccine for HPV prevention is administered to boys and girls as early as 11 years of age.Hope this helps. ...Read more

I am 16,female.Never had sexual contact before.Would there be any way to know if I'm infected with hpv???

Unlikely...: It is very unlikely to have HPV if you have never had sex before. Even if you did in most cases at your age your body gets rid of it by the age of 21, reason why the American Academy of Gynecology does not recommend getting regularly tested for this until you reach that age regardless of sexual activity, ...Read more

Is there a way to contract HPV without being sexually active? My sister was diagnosed with HPV recently, which has made me very confused. I know for a fact that she is not sexually active, has never had sex, no oral, and no sexual contact. I'm so confused

Hello. : Hello. There are many different strains of human papilloma virus (hpv). They cause warts. For instance hpv1 is a cause for warts on the feet (plantars warts). You could have hpv on your thumb - that means you have a wart. Saying that someone has hpv doesn't mean that it has to be sexually spread or on the genitals. I hope this was helpful. Take care. ...Read more

I'm 16 female and never had any sexual contact. If I touch my genitals and then my nose or mouth unconciously, would there be any problem with HPV?

Highly unlikely: You would definitely not have vaginal or cervical HPV infection, but it is conceivable, but unlikely, that touching your oral cavity if you have HPV there and then touching your genitals could do this, but again, this is very very improbable and would not worry. Best wishes. ...Read more

Do all strains of HVP cause warts? Is sexual contact the only way HVP warts occur?

Do all strains of HVP cause warts? Is sexual contact the only way HVP warts occur?

Yes: The short answer is yes. HPV infects keratinocytes on skin mucous membranes. Most HPV infections are subclinical (meaning it won't cause symptoms). But some of these subclinical cases will progress on to cause things such as such as warts. Some warts then may progress to squamous cell papillomas or even overt cancers. See your doctor to ask about the Guardicil vaccine. It saves lives!! ...Read more
