What Can Cause H Cg Levels To Fluctuate
What can be causing my hCG levels to fluctuate greatly and have symptoms of miscarriage but the fetus has been seen in my uterus?
Fluctuating hcg: Fluctuated levels of hcg is not a reassuring sign. The simple fact is that just because the fetus is in the uterus does not mean she is not miscarrying. Sometimes a spontaneous abortion is followed by spontaneous delivery of the fetus but other times the fetus must be delivered by the doctor. Follow up with her OB and he/she will advise her. ...Read more
In the first 6 weeks of pregnancy is it possible for hcg levels to drop 20%, then rise 35% over the next 4 days, then double 3 days after that and have a healthy pregnancy? What could cause this level fluctuation?
Retained placenta: If the miscarriage is incomplete, the placental tissue remaining in the uterus can continue to grow and will producer hcg. The level could rise. That person needs to see an ob/gyn. ...Read more
Pregnancy or tumor: Hcg is the normal hormonal product of the placenta and so levels are high in pregnancy; a urine pregnancy test looks for hcg. However some tumors also produce hcg, so a high level in a man, or in a non-pregnant woman, strongly suggests a tumor that needs to be found and treated as soon as possible. ...Read more
Hcg levels can vary significantly in different pregnancies at different times of preg. Extremly high levels can indicate other disease processes like gestational
trophoplastc disease. The value needs to be weighed in view of the whole clinical picture. This would be best evaluated by a board certified obgyn. ...Read more
My beta hCG levels were as 0.1 on 30th august, 6.7 on 14 september, 5 on 17 september. What could have caused this?
Transient pregnancy: Conception.....In trouble. See pmd.Get a more detailed answer ›
It depends: Hcg levels identify a pregnancy. Low levels may represent a very early pregnancy depending on how many days you are late for your expected period. You will have to have more tests to see if it doubles or not. If it decreases you had a chemical pregnancy. Talk with your OB about getting further tests to see if the pregnancy is normal. ...Read more
Luteal phase defect: Low Progesterone levels may be associated with a cause of recurrent miscarriage called a luteal phase defect and is treatable with first trimester progesterone. Extremely low progesterones and abnormal HCG levels may well be an ectopic or tubal pregnancy. Not everyone's HCG doubles every 2-3 days like we make them think. A 20% rise every 2-3 days may be normal and eventually you plateau. ...Read more
If you had a miscarriage and your hcg levels fell to 17 a few days later, what would cause them to rise to 96 in just 4 days?
Pregnant - lmp: oct 17/conception: nov 07. Bloodwork: dec 06 showed hCG level of 7, 801. This is on the lowest end of "normal." is this a cause for concern in any way?
Contact Your OB: I am not quite sure what your real concern is. You are pregnant. I am sure your OB would have expressed any concerns to you directly when you had your appointment. ...Read more
Can I be pregnant with hcg level less than 1? I haven't had sex in 3 months. What would cause an hcg level if not pregnant?
In reality, no.: One can "be pregnant" with HCG less than 1, but only BEFORE the moment when embryo implantation starts. After that, blood HCG quickly rises above 1. If you define "being pregnant" as AFTER a successful embryo implantation, the answer changes to: no, you cannot be pregnant with HCG less than 1. Normal men, kids (>3 mo. Old), and non-pregnant, pre-menopausal women get HCG results less than 1 or 2. ...Read more
What causes late rising HCG levels? I mean I was 6 weeks pregnant but hCG was 148 then it still going doubling normally every 48 hours. But only sac
Early: An HCG of 148 is very early. As long as it is rising like you describe, it's a good sign. You don't expect to see a sac until the HCG reaches 1500 to 2000, and you won't see an embryo for at least another 1-2 weeks, and then just a small blip on the screen. If you are 6 weeks, though, you would expect to see something. Perhaps you are not as far along as you think. ...Read more

I have flucuating hCG levels since I tested postive on 14dpo, hCG ars 35, 24, 48 and now 317 at 5 wks. Will my pregnancy be normal or ectopic?
Hcg levels: Rising hcg's are reassuring. However, I usually want to see a Progesterone level in patients at risk of ectopic, especially if plateau of HCG is noted. Most (but not all) ectopics have very low Progesterone levels. Often times even lower than an early miscarriage. See if your OB is comfortable with ordering and interpreting Progesterone levels. ...Read more

Not an easy situatio: It is hard to assess your complex situation through few lines, but VIP is usually given as a second line chemotherapy for testicular cancer mostly in the salvage setting. My cycle is irregular. Would HCG levels usually be high enough to show up on an hpt by the time a pregnancy is far enough along to cause spotting?
After missed period: You should do the test 4-5 days after missed period. If your cycles are irregular then do the test about three weeks after what you think was day of fruitful sex.
