What Can Cause Constipation
I noticed there was a little spot of blood (tiny) in my toilet paper, what can cause constipation?
Fat bad, fiber good: Foods high in fat tend to constipate you. Foods high in fiber favor looser stools. Fruits vegetable, whole grains are excellent sources of fiber. Also, fiber only works if u are well hydrated. Drink plenty of non-caffinated, non-alcoholic fluids to keep stools soft. Fiber can also be added to a glass of water. Many Issues Interact: Emotions, too sedentary, dehydration, too little fiber, etc. Etc. & in combination. Intestinal muscle motion totally under nervous system control (subconscious) 24/7. Absence of fiber...: ...is probably the big issue here. But, to answer your question about foods that have a binding effect, you may want to minimize: chocolate (particularly if you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome), large amounts of dairy (milk, cheese), red meat, bananas (& other high pectin foods), caffeine (particularly if you're already dehydrated). ...Read more
Change your diet and: Fluids. Eat a high fiber diet between 20-25 grams per day, regular meal times and drink 80-100 oz of caffeine free alcohol free fluids daily. If you exercise and should add 20 oz per 30 minutes of strenuous exercise. Some meds contribute to constipation so take the meds with full glass of fluid instead of a sip in addition to the above recommended fluids. ...Read more
What can cause chronic constipation a whole year after gallbladder removal? I have tried miralax (polyethylene glycol) and other laxatives, nothing is working
