Have multiple lung nodules reason unknown doc repeat scan in 6 months but i noticed getting short of breath. Should i go back now? It's been 2 mo.

Size&riskfactors mat: Usually there are specific recommendations as to the follow up of lung nodules, based on size, smoking history, associated medical isues etc. Often there should be a sufficient interval of time between imaging studies to make a judgement if there has been any significant change in the nodules. However, symptoms trump all recommendations, so if there is a change, you should talk to your physician. ...Read more

29 yrs F,For past 5 days I feel like near fainting, sometimes I feel pain near chest and feel shortness of breath.reason and which Doctor need to meet?

ER doctor.: For all this, you should really be first seeing an ER doctor. There's a lot going on here, and an expeditious initial work-up is needed - blood testing, EKG, stress testing. This can most quickly be done via short hospital stay. After this, depending on results, visits to outpatient doctors can be scheduled. ...Read more

Worrison: At your age, i would be worried about renal disease - did your doctor take a blood and urine sample? Your body mass index is 32.5 which is "obese" and places you at risk for developing hypertension, especially if your parents have it (?) although, at your age, you would be an outlier. ...Read more

I've been taking advicor for five years and now my doctor is switching me to zocor (simvastatin). How long does the niacin stay in your body.. Flushing?

Good question: I researched your question: the half life of extended release Niacin in Advicor (lovastatin and niacin) is very variable, & depends on gender, dose, & individual characteristics. It peaks 5 hours after a single dose. Following years of treatment, it's probably safe to assume that it will take days (3-5) to wear off completely. Possibly longer depending on dose. ...Read more

My doctor tells me i only get so sick because i'm a vegetarian? Surly this isn't good advice or reasoning?

Forgive me...: I do not know what health problems you are having, or why you became a vegetarian. If it's a way of protesting cruel factory farming, i admire you but you must supplement fairly intensively or it will make you seriously sick. Despite all their claims, the big studies have satisfied me that vegetarianism offers no benefit for longevity or any common disease. Again, forgive my frankness & you decide. ...Read more

Follow up with your: doctor, thick phlegm can be from your lungs or more commonly from your upper airways, nose/sinuses, doesn't indicate lung cancer. Doctor i have an issue :- Every day after shower (hot/cold/lukewarm) i get a headach and that continue rest of day... reason and give some medication?

Need examination: If showering seems to be a trigger to headaches in your case then, I would want to actually examine you to see if there weren't some reason for why headaches should be activated following such an activity. On this network we cannot prescribe medications for international patients. However, if you'd like to look me up at www.healthtap.com/drsaghafi and use Key Code: PDXFNR I'd be happy to help. ...Read more

Anxiety: Would be interested to know why anxious just at night? And why not able to go to the doc? If possible would recommend eval with mental heal specialist, possibly even by health tap. Some suggestions include self help books for anxiety such as "the anxiety and worry workbook" by David Clark and Aaron Beck - based on cognitive behavioral therapy. Also consider meditation or progressive relaxation. ...Read more

Why do I always have mucus in my lungs, not that bad, but how can I get rid of it, what is the reason?

Doctor can evaluate: A person who has a cough producing mucus should see a doctor. The doctor can evaluate to see if there is allergies, asthma, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, or perhaps another problem in the throat or chest. Problems can be more serious if the person is a smoker or has other health problems. Smoking is a major risk factor for several lung diseases, including cancer. ...Read more

Is it a law that if your doctor doesn't wanna see you for some reason, that you should get one more refill on your painkillers?

It is not law: The Interagency Guideline on Prescribing Opioids for Pain in WA State recommends Immediate discontinuation if there is diversion or non-medical use. As a Pain Physician who also has certification in Addiction Medicine, I would offer the patient chemical dependency treatment and assist in getting the patient the resources that are required. ...Read more
