Deoxygenated blood enters the lungs from the right side of the heart and travels to the lungs. When you inspire, oxygen flows into the lungs, transverses the capilliares and attaches to hemoglobin down a gradient. At the same time, co2 diffuses into the capilaries and is expelled with exhalation. Oxygen rich blood then flows to the left side of the heart and into the ...Read more

Size&riskfactors mat: Usually there are specific recommendations as to the follow up of lung nodules, based on size, smoking history, associated medical isues etc. Often there should be a sufficient interval of time between imaging studies to make a judgement if there has been any significant change in the nodules. However, symptoms trump all recommendations, so if there is a change, you should talk to your physician. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I've been taking advicor for five years and now my doctor is switching me to zocor (simvastatin). How long does the niacin stay in your body.. Flushing?
Good question: I researched your question: the half life of extended release Niacin in Advicor (lovastatin and niacin) is very variable, & depends on gender, dose, & individual characteristics. It peaks 5 hours after a single dose. Following years of treatment, it's probably safe to assume that it will take days (3-5) to wear off completely. Possibly longer depending on dose. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
My doctor tells me i only get so sick because i'm a vegetarian? Surly this isn't good advice or reasoning?
Forgive me...: I do not know what health problems you are having, or why you became a vegetarian. If it's a way of protesting cruel factory farming, i admire you but you must supplement fairly intensively or it will make you seriously sick. Despite all their claims, the big studies have satisfied me that vegetarianism offers no benefit for longevity or any common disease. Again, forgive my frankness & you decide. ...Read more
