Depends: this depends on your lab results. I recommend that D3 levels be maintained in the 60-70 ng/dl range. Usual dose to be in that range is 5-7,000 IU per day. If you are taking 50,000 units per week, please be sure to take it with a meal. ...Read more

Normal: 30 -80ng/ml: The normal vitamin d level ranges from 30-80ng/ml (may vary somewhat in different lab). Thus, level less than 30 is considered deficient. I have tested many patients and have never seen anyone having above 65ng/ml--i gues because we generally don't get get enough sun exposure and/or not getting adequate intake from diet. Consult doc. What are normal levels for vitamin d 25 oh? And can u get a low grade fever if the vitamin d levels are low?

What are normal levels for vitamin d 25 oh? And can u get a low grade fever if the vitamin d levels are low?

Prefer at least 30: The range of 25-oh vitamin d levels believed to be adequate by physicians ranges from approx. 20 to 70 ng/ml, depending on who you talk to. There is some evidence from controlled studies that vitamin d supplementation lowers all-cause mortality. I favor achieving a level of at least 30 ng/ml. I'm not aware of a link between vitamin d and fever, and doubt your post-ovulation temp is true fever. ...Read more

Blood result showed that I was deficient of vitamin D. I scored half of what a normal level is.Type of vitamin D should I take and how much (IU) a day?

Blood result showed that I was deficient of vitamin D. I scored half of what a normal level is.Type of vitamin D should I take and how much (IU) a day?

5-10,000 iu D3/day: With levels that low I advise you start by taking 10,000 iu of D3 a day for 2 months, then reduce to 5-8000 iu/day. At some point you should recheck your levels. Optimal levels are 50-80. It is best to take Vitamin K along with D and make sure you are getting Vit A as these vitamins work synergistically. Avoid D2, which is dangerous! Twitch: 1: An unexplained twitch suggests you need a consult with a Neurologist. 2: With spring and summer coming up you probably don't need vitamin D or B12. That said, 1000 units of vitamin D per day won't hurt. In the USA a bottle with 120 capsules costs less than 10 US dollars. ...Read more
