Advantage and disadvantage of acrylic as a denture base material?

Advantage and disadvantage of acrylic as a denture base material?

Very broad question.: As compared to what? Some individuals, although very uncommon, have acrylic allergies. Metal bases are stronger and thinner, but less easily adjusted if they cause any irritations or sores. Nylon bases are more flexible and cannot be added to or adjusted easily. Compare valplast flexible vs. Metal single tooth denture for chewing & hot/cold drinks? Do they have different affects?

Compare valplast flexible vs. Metal single tooth denture for chewing & hot/cold drinks? Do they have different affects?

Hands down!: Replacing a single tooth with a flexible removable is silly, unless you really can't afford anything else and it is a front tooth that shows, or used for a short temporary replacement. A single implant supported crown is the best way to go, hands down! an implant crown will look and feel like your own tooth and last decades or a lifetime. A flexible partial will collect food, be annoying, etc. ...Read more

Heat cure acrylic resin upper denture problem. Do I have to go back to the original dentist?

Heat cure acrylic resin upper denture problem. Do I have to go back to the original dentist?

Not Necessarily: If you have a denture problem, it's generally best to see the original dentist again. Not only is he/she most familiar with your specific case, but he/she probably won't charge as much to perform follow-up work on something he/she fabricated. A new dentist is okay too, but it may cost more. If your original dentist can't help you, then you'll have to find someone else, obviously. Either way is ok. ...Read more
