What Are The First Symtoms Of Hsv2
What can a hsv2 type specific IgG result value of 17.2 tell me other than obviously being 'positive'? I've never had outbreaks. This is my first test.
I was told I have hsv2 I think I’m experiencing my first outbreak painful bump almost identical to a hair bump. Is there anything I can do?
Is it true that you may present symptoms of hsv2 years after contracting the infection? If so, after X amount of years, would the IGg test be lower or higher. I will preface this by stating I have not been tested yet, but I may be seeing the first signs
HSV Testing: You should get tested at a lab for HSV1/HSV2, HIV, Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. Are you sexually active? You should have your sexual partners for the past 60 days tested as well. You can tell them that your doctor thinks you should be tested to be safe. There are treatments for HSV 1 & 2. The testing IgG level is not exact for when you were infected. Most important is testing & treatment. ...Read more
First herpes OB 3 weeks ago. 2 swab tests (BD) both came back pos. For HSV1 and neg. For HSV2. But OB is so persistent it possible this is HSV2?
You have HSV1: You can be sure it's HSV1; a lab would not confuse with HSV2 on swab testing. There is no difference in severity or duration of symptoms for HSV1 vs HSV2. I hope you have been taking an anti-herpes drug like aciclovir or valaciclovir, but HSV1 sometimes needs higher doses than HSV2. With proper treatment, symptoms should have cleared much sooner than 3 weeks. Discuss with your doctor. Good luck! ...Read more
First herpes OB. Has 2 swab tests, both positive for hsv1 negative for hsv2. I heard swab tests can be inaccurate. Is it possible I have hsv2 as well?
Unlikely: I wonder what exactly was the type of test used? If it was a PCR test, then I would trust those results. Besides, you had it done twice which has shown the same result in each case. It would be rare anyway to have transmission of HSV-1 and HSV-2 all from one incident. In fact, having one of the herpes viruses may partially protect against getting the other one. So I think you only acquired HSV-1. ...Read more
I just healed from my very first hsv2 outbreak. Currently no meds. Will my partner still be at high risk even with condoms? Can I viral shed so soon?
High risk!: This is when you are MOST likely to infect a partner. Asymptomatic viral shedding starts immediately and is most common in the weeks and months after catching it. Was your infection proved by lab testing to be HSV2? Genital herpes and HSV2 are not the same. Half of genital is due to HSV1, with lower risk shedding, outbreaks, and transmission. If HSV2, take suppressive Rx to reduce his risk. ...Read more
What are the first signs & initials of hsv1 & hsv2? What tests to take to be sure I have hsv? How to protect myself while having sex? Help thanks..
Prodrome: Initial stages are an inflammatory rash that burns, itches and are contagious. Recurrent form is a cold sore--starts as an irritation like chapped lips but only in one site. It progresses to a raised red swelling, followed by blisters that dry, crack and bleed. The cycle lasts 14-21 days. Protect self/partner with condom and dental dam for oral. Avoid sex in outbreak. 95% are always contagious. ...Read more
Please help me I had sex with this woman I'm dating and last night and she told me she has herpes hsv2 after sex and it was unprotected our first time?
I am not sure how we can help. But, here are the facts. There are twelve stds. It is your responsibility to know this and how one prevents contracting them.
25% of americans have herpes type two, or 'genital' herpes. 75% of them have type one. The only way to diagnose them is to have the blood test. 905 of those people with herpes type two do not have outbreaks and don't know where contagious. ...Read more
2-12 days: An HSV outbreak can start 2-12 days after exposure. The average is about 4-5 days. The belly is not a common location for the blisters. Blisters on the belly can be shingles, rather than HSV2. The best way to know what they are is to have them tested for HSV 1 and 2. Best wishes! ...Read more
Thanks. Today I have a slight itch on the blisters. Can hsv blisters occur 4 weeks post exposure? Can hsv2 first outbreak appear on belly?
Herpes: HSV 2 can certainly appear 4 weeks after exposure. They can appear anywhere but the abdomen is a less common area. Have you confirmed that these blisters are actually herpes? Testing should be done to confirm this before you amen assumptions. Shingles is a more likely cause of blisters on the abdomen. Consider a virtual visit on healthtap with one of primary care doctors to show them an image. ...Read more

Does hsv2 first outbreak may look like a normal rash, or ulcers (or blisters, or papules) are seen from the begining of the outbreak itching starts?
Question unclear: Hsv infection may begin with itching, which is a subliminal form of pain. It is followed by the eruption which typically appear as a blister or as multiple blisters on or around affected areas -- usually the mouth, genitals, or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers. First outbreaks may be accompanied by fever, profound fatigue and generalized malaise. ...Read more
Herpes HSV 2 spread.: Genital herpes hsv2 and oral herpes hsv1 can either both be in the mouth or on the gentiles. Oral sex can transmit both. Kissing can as well. Both virus are very prevalent but symptoms outbreaks for some people can be latent or nonexistent. While not having oral sex during an active outbreak may help, I suspect transmission maybe unavoidable. ...Read more
Yes: Herpes simplex viruses -- more commonly known as herpes -- are categorized into two types: herpes type 1 (hsv-1, or oral herpes) and herpes type 2 (hsv-2, or genital herpes). Most commonly, herpes type 1 causes sores around the mouth and lips (sometimes called fever blisters or cold sores). Hsv-1 can cause genital herpes, but most cases of genital herpes are caused by herpes type 2. ...Read more
Anti-HSV treatment: Not everyone with HSV2 has outbreaks; many people have no symptoms. If you're having recurrent outbreaks of genital herpes, treatment with an anti-herpes drug like valayclovir or acyclovir can reduce their frequency. Ongoing treatment also lowers the chance of transmission to sex partners. Find a doctor who understands herpes well then follow his or her advice about the detail. Good luck! ...Read more

Yes: It is usually transmitted between lovers. Use barrier protection at all times and talk with your personal physician how to become less infectious. Further, you must tell your boyfriend about your status -- if you care about him, I trust you'd do this in any case. A partner who wasn't warned and becomes infected can be very angry; someone who was warned usually will be understanding. ...Read more
