The triphala is usually mixed with guggulu. The herb combination has been used commonly in India. I am not aware of any studies on its benefit. I do no an effective product though. Check out the following link

Not sure: Triphala churna is an Ayurvedic medicine that is reported to remove toxins from the GI tract & cleanse the liver, gallbladder& kidneys. Safe enough: Triphala is an herbal formula used in Aruvedic medicine often for bowel problems/relief of constipation. It consists of at least three plants; it is not clear what chemical is responsible for it's effects. Somwtimes I use triphala, my GI doc is unfamiliar with it and will not research it. I does help to give large bowel movements, but is it ok to use?
