What Are The Causes Of Hair Loss On Your Legs
Age, vein, artery, diab: As we age leg hair seems to become more sparse with thinner shafts. This may be accelerated by diseases that affect the large & small arteries & veins of the legs where either less blood flows in or the outflow of blood is too slow due to small valve leakage. Diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, venous stasis, heart valve problems, & skin diseases such as scleroderma may be involved. ...Read more
Hair loss, otherwise known as alopecia, can be caused by different reasons, including damage to the hair shaft or follicles or fungal infections. There are two main types of alopecia. Alopecia areata occurs when the body's immune system attacks hair follicles and causes hair to fall out. Androgenetic (or androgenic) alopecia, on the other hand, is an inherited form of hair loss. With alopecia areata, hair can fall out in patches all over the body. With androgenetic alopecia, hair on the head first thins and then falls out. In men, this is called male pattern hair loss; in women, it is called ...Read more
Can prolonged swelling swelling of the leg unrelated to vascular issues cause hair loss in said leg?
In short yes: Chronic edema or otherwise noted swelling of the leg / lower extremity can be associated with what's known as stasis dermatitis. In which the skin becomes very tight and thin. I have noticed brusing on my legs out of nowhere. I have recently started to have a great amount of hair loss. My skin is yellow. Wht can it be?
See a doctor: Hi. Yellowing of skin is called jaundice, and results from liver disease or biliary duct obstruction. Bruising may be due to low platelets or clotting factor deficiencies. Clotting factors are made by the liver, so if your liver is sick, that would unify the findings. I think you should see a doctor right away. In the meantime, no alcohol or tylenol (acetaminophen). Good luck! ...Read more
