in virtually any situation, you will lose weight if your caloric expenditure exceeds your caloric intake. In other words, eat less than you expend. It is still important to have a well balanced diet (ie no extreme caloric reduction). Seek advice from a nutritionist to evaluate your current diet and find areas of unnecessary caloric intake (ie no nutritional value) like chips! Excercise!

In general, there is no one magic food that do all of the things you ask. However, you can attain most of those by following the new food pyramid recommended by the USDA. It emphasizes on exercise, eating more grains, vegetables, fruits, lean cut meat, poly-unsaturated oil, but not fried food and avoid processed food and fat and also keep the calories down by decreasing serving sizes.

A favorite of mine is calories in calories out. Water is a key player when it comes to weight loss. I wish there was a magic pill I could prescribe when it comes to this subject as it effects more than 60% of Americans. If you feel that you are doing everything you can and being honest with yourself and still nothing works talk to your Dr. about doing some blood work. Low Iron and hypothyroidism.
