What Are Normal Levels For Tsh And T4
See below: Normal ranges vary from lab to lab and you should check the reference range for your lab. General ranges are given below: tsh: 0.4 - 4.0 miu/l t4: 4.5 – 12.5 for more info see the site below http://thyroid.About.Com/cs/newsinfo/l/bltest_values.Htm. ...Read more
Depends: It really depends on the assay used to check the levels. Most assays have a range for example from 0.3-->3. Some have up to 5. Most often there is no need to treat unless the number is > 10 unless the patient is pregnant or symptomatic. For Free t4 you need to see the reference range as it can vary from lab to lab quite a bit depending on the assay used. ...Read more
It depends: Are you taking thyroid medication? On any other meds? Why was this test done? Have you been told a bout having a thyroid disease? The TSH level in your case is low....Suggesting a possible hyperactive thyroid state.. This could be a lab error as well. Would check with your doc.. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
There is no "best": The normal range for TSH in most labs is 0.4 to 4.5 (though most people are between 0.4 and 3). ...Read more
Is it possible that your TSH levels, free T3 (liothyronine) and T4 levels are within the normal range but you have a high thyroperoxidase antibody?
Yes: Not all auto-antibodies are associated with disease. However, you are at greater risk for thyroid deficiency and should follow your doctor's advice for continuing care. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more
My TSH levels are 4.57; Free T4 =1.2; T3 (liothyronine)=103. Are my Free T4 and T3 (liothyronine) levels normal? If they are normal why is my TSH elevated?
Slightly low: I see that you are on thyroid hormone. The TSH will be the best indicator of whether you need more or less medication. The ideal TSH is around 1-2, so currently you could use a slightly higher dose. The "normal range" applies to a population of people. Your individual normal range is much more narrow. If your pituitary wants your free T4 to be 1.3 or 1.4, it will put out TSH to try to do so. ...Read more
My T3 (liothyronine) and T4 are low value from normal range i.e. 0.63 and 6.51 and TSH is normal what can i do?
T3 (liothyronine) uptake and T4 thyroxine and free T4 index are normal, but TSH is4.65 and per the lab that is high. The highest normal is 4.5. What does this mean?
Once - Nothing!: Any symptoms? Sublinical hypothyroid or nothing. This is an odd combo of tests as T4 & FTI essential measure the same thing. Your TSH is just above normal & there is sometimes variability in the test. I would suggest, repeat testing by an endocrinologist about 2 weeks after this one, with antithyroid antibodies. If (+) closer monitoring, if (-) less close f/u. Fam Hx also important. Don't worry! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What's blood test lipoprotein associated phospholipase a2 used for and what are normal and desirable levels for men?
Tsh > 40 mU/L: All infants with a low T4 concentration and a TSH concentration greater than 40 mU per L are considered to have congenital hypothyroidism and should have immediate confirmatory serum testing. Replacement levothyroxine (LT4) treatment should be initiated as soon as confirmatory samples have been taken, without waiting for the results ...Read more
If my reports for thyroid show normal levels of TSH and normal t3 (liothyronine)..But abnormal T4 what does it show?
Thyroid issue: It's somewhat unusual to see that breakdown. Normally, we see abnormal TSH and normal t3/t4 levels. First, i would repeat the tests to make sure the new report corroborates with the old one. If the same breakdown is seen this may mean your thyroid is hyperfunctioning. In this case, i refer patients for radioactive iodine uptake study to confirm or rule this out. ...Read more
My TPO and TSH levels are very high, but T3 (liothyronine) t4 &tsh are in range. I have a history of graves disease. Why are my antibodies high but other levels ok?
Endocrinologist: You state that your tsh is very high and also state that it's normal in the same sentence. Your graves disease must have been treated with either RAI or medications and this usually leads to an underactive thyroid causing a high TSH which would mean that a higher dose of thyroid replacement is needed. Elevated antibodies could indicate intervening Hashimoto's thyroiditis. See an endocrinologist. ...Read more
My IgG levels are about 5 times the normal limit, but the IgA levels are normal. What does this mean?
High IgG: I assume your doctor then requested a subclass analysis of igg. It is important to recognize that a monoclonal elevation may indicate a serious condition. Ask your doctor. If it is polyclonal meaning that there is a general increase in igg, it may be found with inflammatory or infectious states. Sometimes a hematologist, immunologist or oncologist is needed to track this down. ...Read more
