What are my options for skin resurfacing on my face other than lasers?

Depends: To improve skin texture, tightness and tone, resurfacing is often used. Intense pulse light lasers or led lights can help improve discoloration and provide some wrinkle reduction. Peels, superficial and deep can improve skin as well. Obagi skin care line is a great line of topical products for patients who do not want to do skin procedures. Expensive but effective. ...Read more

That stimulates the skin to produce younger looking, healthier skin. The key is to go to a qualified cosmetic surgeon to be sure that the treatment is right for you and to be sure that ...Read more

Not always: Skin resurfacing is performed by a variety of techniques - chemical peels are only one option. Other options include dermabrasion and laser resurfacing (done with a variety of lasers depending upon degree of scarring ). The best option for you would depend upon the how deep your acne scars are and how extensive your "sun spots" are. ...Read more

Chemical peels,: Laser resurfacing, and dermabrasion are all methods of removing a portion of the skin surface that stimulates healing, and development of collagen and elastic fibers (along with a new skin surface) that reduces (but does not remove) scars. If your skin is sensitive, the treatments designed to reduce acne scarring will need to be less severe (and will be less effective). Laser may be most precise. ...Read more

There : There are a few options when it comes to skin resurfacing for acne scar and pigmentation issues. Chemical peels and lasers are two options. Another option that works well for treating just portions of the face is dermabrasion. This produces more of a physical sanding of the skin. The idea with all 3 procedures is to remove the outer layer of skin cells. New skin then regrows into the area to create a smoother, more even pigmentation. ...Read more

Will artefill provide me a long-lasting solution to my wrinkles? There are so many skin products and procedures on the market right now. I have tried many of them on my smile lines and forehead but without long-term success. How is artefill different from

Only : Only a specific evaluation of your issues can lead to the best customized solution. Nowadays in facial aesthetics we can achieve natural results 100% of the time, and we only need to make skin incisions 5% of the time, usually as the second or third resort. The right lasers, peels, fillers and Botox can mean a result of 2-30 years of improvement. The idea of placing volume (fat transfer, temporary fillers, or long-term fillers) has revolutionized facial aesthetics. It makes the results of surgery or laser much more natural and often helps to avoid incisions. Regarding your question about artefill, this might help: i am a cosmetic surgeon who has used artefill for about 5 years. My experience with artefill has been exceptional in every respect. I like artefill's predictability and smoothness. Patients like the fact that they are paying for something one time, and getting (likely) 10-15 years of volume correction. It costs about twice what the other fillers cost, but over time it costs about a fifth of the others. A great value. The make of artefill is a us company, and they are the only company that has submitted 5-years of safety data to the fda. There are concerns with any filler, but the safety of all fillers is very high, if placed by an experienced injector. Ask to see 5 or 10 sets of before and after photos, and you'll know you got the right injector! ...Read more

It's : It's permanent. It consists of teflon microspheres which do not get broken down by the body, so in that sense yes, it i long term. In another sense, skin will always stretch, wrinkle, sag, distort, etc so how "permanent/or long lasting" can any fix be!? Or would you want it to be. ...Read more

Question on how i could lighten my scar. Any ideas of ways other than laser treatment?

Question on how i could lighten my scar. Any ideas of ways other than laser treatment?

Raw honey, aloe gel: The cause of the scar and it's age are not noted. Scars take about 1 year to fully heal. I would suggest using ~ 50:50 mix of Aloe gel(preferably from a plant) and raw honey applied to the entire scar daily and as needed. When I burned my hand, I used a clean sock to cover my hand at night. Apply a dressing over the area if possible. Be patient and let time above treatment do its work. ...Read more

After the treatment of acne? What can I apply on my face? Still have an oil skin? Are there products suitable for my face?

Benzoyl peroxide..: Many of the otc acne cream/washes are made of benzoyl peroxide preparation which has a drying effect and non-comedogenic (not clogging pores) and thus decent to use as a treatment/maintenance for acne care. Avoid excessive rubbing/scrubbing as this will make it worse. The anti-acne pads can remove the oil quite well, but again, don't rub/scrub too hard. Consult doc if not better. Good luck. ...Read more

Severe acne scars on forehead, and the sides of the face. Besides dermabrasion & other skin resurfacing treatments how can I achieve clear skin again?

Don't give up!: Deep acne scars are a tough problem. Laser resurfacing, in my opinion, is the best way to improve the appearance. It is rarely a one time treatment, however. We use active fx and deep fx and repeat the treatment a few times (we wait a few months between treatments to evaluate the effect) for maximal benefit. ...Read more

Safe: Fractional lasers are an effective treatment for facial wrinkles. Although risk of permanent scar and skin color changes is less than older lasers and deep chemical peels, improper use of a fractional laser can have similar complications. Seek treatment from a qualified physician (dermatologist, facial plastic surgeon, plastic surgeon) with ample experience in use of such lasers. ...Read more

Meds: Many patients do well with over the counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid preparations. Some patients require topical or oral antibiotics or retinoids as well. If the over the counter meds alone don't control your acne after a month of daily use, see a doctor for additional treatment options. It is important to be persistent, and some patients 'get worse before they get better'. ...Read more

Surgical biopsy: Most Dermatologist realize skin creams and bleaches from caustic Chemicals are not good for the skin or your health. If a spot appears suspicious (large, growing, irregular in shape, mottled in appearance, bloody) then a biopsy to exclude melanoma or other cancer is indictated. If it is small, circular, and looks the same year after year, leaving it alone & wearing sunscreen is your best bet. ...Read more
