Hello. : Hello. If you have active disease it is very contagious. If you have sores you should not have sex. Even if a condom is used it might not adequately prevent contact with all of the lesions. Remember that herpes can be spread even when there aren't active lesions. Unlikely: In several studies less than one-half of 1% of people taking an Acyclovir salt developed ulcers and all were over 50 years old.
