Could nasal/phlegm drainage or too much spicy food or candy cause me to have flu symptoms like diarrhea/fatigue/upset stomach/headache/etc.?

No

The flu is caused by the influenza virus. You catch it from others via infected oral or nasal secretions. If you are immunosuppressed, stressed, or overtired, these things may predispose you to a viral infection. Food and the other things that you mentioned should not predispose you to the flu virus. You can have symptoms that seem like the flu and unrelated due to things you eat.

I'd suspect irritable bowel syndrome given your complaints. This illness requires a Dr willing to spend some time helping you learn to cope with the illness. Not easy.

Sounds like an intestinal flu bug. Upset stomach, diarrhea lead to dehydration. This can make you feel lightheaded and give you a headache. Drink plenty of fluids, something like gatorade may help the most. If this has been going on for a while you may need further evaluation by your internist.

Diarrhea

Sounds like your sharing a infectious diarrhea either viral or from something you ate. Keep your hydration up and try a BRAT diet (banana, rice, apple sauce, tea, toast) to bind you up. I try to dissuade patients from taking antidiarrheals such as immodium because they can sometimes make the illness last longer.

Something you ate? If not sounds aweful! Go to bland diet for a few days. Rest your gut. Try to avoid gluten for a week or two to see if helps. Reduce stressors. Try lactose free milk if its dairy upsetting stomach,

Maybe not

Patients on antibiotic therapy can develop a secondary intestinal infection called C. diff colitis. This presents as diarrhea, abdominal pain and fevers. I would consult your prescribing physician and ask him/her about it.

Bronchitis is usually due to a viral infection which will not respond to antibacterial antibiotics. You could have chronic bronchitis from your smoking. You may have antibiotic associated diarrhea or Clostridium difficile colitis. Get checked out again by your MD and stop smoking.

Related or not?

There are lots of possibilities here, all of which can be addressed by a physical exam and appropriate testing. Migraines for example can affect both head and gut ("intestinal migraine"). Please however don't contribute to your stomach upset by taking excessive NSAID's aimed at alleviating head ache. Get checked to rule out more esoteric pathology.

No, hard to know

This is not "the flu" as that refers to influenza, which has high fever, sore throat, cough, few GI symptoms & you're bedridden, feeling like you were hit with by a truck. This could be "stomach flu" a GI virus that's quite different from influenza, or a parasite, H. pylori, other bacterial infection or food poisoning. No way to know if it will make you vomit. If not better soon see a doctor.

Can't tell

Sounds like an acute viral illness like the flu but no way to tell without a good exam and maybe some labs. You need to see a doctor, my friend. May even need some IV fluids if you are dehydrated. Go ASAP.
