Failed 3 rounds of antibiotics child still has pus in ear allergic to omincef and amoxicillin what else can we try?
Hard to say: Since you didn't list the previous meds it is hard to suggest one that may work. Success in clearing an otitis after 3 meds often drops to below 25% regardless of what is tried. If a sample of the puss is obtained it may help. However, at some point the middle ear fluid may be so thick drugs cannot penetrate & kill the germs. At that point removing the pus during tube placement may be the best rx. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My son has a ingrown toenail which is infected. We have no medical insurance until january. Is cipro (ciprofloxacin) effective for this kind if infection?
No: A couple of concerns with this: 1) sounds like you have left over antibiotics at home & plan to use them. This likely means you have an inadequate supply & this is never wise! 2) Cipro (ciprofloxacin) is not the first choice of antibiotic for paronychia (the redness & infection associated with the ingrown nail). Antibiotics may temporarily relieve the redness but not the offending border. See a doc! ...Read moreSee 5 more doctor answers
