I take metoprolol, fosinopril, and diltiazem. What is my doctor thinking?

Hypertension: It would be best if you ask him in a straightforward and unchallenging fashion. Those are excellent medications for the treatment of hypertension. The combination implies you have important high blood pressure. 2 of them could be combined into generic Lotrel (amlodipine and benazepril) & so you could be on 2 instead of 3 medicines. I was on Atenolol 50mg daily. Doctor switching me to Toprol (metoprolol) XL 25mg. Bad side effects with atenolol. Is this equivalent? What should I expect?

Resolution of sympto: STOP 2ND GUESSING EVERYTHING THAT UR DOCTOR DOES! I assume u explained what "bad side effect" atenolol was causing to ur doctor (there's no description here). I also assume the side effect was from low BP. Toprol (metoprolol) XL is a longer-acting pill (that's y "XL"). It's also @a lower equivalent dose. So it shdn't drop the BP as much, & lasts longer (wears off slower) so u shd be covered for the entire day. ...Read more
