I was on Atenolol 50mg daily. Doctor switching me to Toprol (metoprolol) XL 25mg. Bad side effects with atenolol. Is this equivalent? What should I expect?
Resolution of sympto: STOP 2ND GUESSING EVERYTHING THAT UR DOCTOR DOES! I assume u explained what "bad side effect" atenolol was causing to ur doctor (there's no description here). I also assume the side effect was from low BP. Toprol (metoprolol) XL is a longer-acting pill (that's y "XL"). It's also @a lower equivalent dose. So it shdn't drop the BP as much, & lasts longer (wears off slower) so u shd be covered for the entire day. ...Read more
