I've been gaining weight on a low carb (w veggies) high fat n protein diet (alot of nuts) but my periods r nt cmg bk? Lost it @ bmi of 18.8. Now 18.2.
Amenorrhea: Being underweight is known cause of amenorrhea or lack of menses. Normal body mass index is 18.5-24.9. If you "lost" your menses at BMI 18.8 and now have BMI 18.2, then you're losing weight, not gaining, assuming your height hasn't increased. You might have to gain even more weight before you start menstruating regularly again. This also assumes that you haven't engaged in unprotected sex. ...Read more

Slow it down: Losing 3 kg (6.6 pounds) a week is a pretty rapid weight loss. If you have a lot (30+ kg) to lose, this rate may be ok. The frequent eating is good as is "lot of vegetables." The protein is ok, but ideally you would have a little fiber/carbohydrate, too. Calories >900/day. If a variety of exercises in workout, 45 min/day is ok. Slow down weight loss to maximize chance of permanent loss. ...Read more
Should i remove proteins & carbohydrates from my diet, if I am on a low cal & low fat diet program?

Proteins are the most important nutrient and least harmful food...So do not exclude proteins...Just choose lean proteins which are free of fats(this will include fish, eggs, nuts and low fat dairy). You can have complex carbs but stay low on refined carbs like sugary foods(sweets) and sugary drinks. ...Read more
Hey randy so ur sayin instead of 1 slice of wheat bread a day, I should eat brown rice instead? And how much a day, tryin 2 cut weight. Im 18, 5'9, 175
Better choice, little: Many believe minimizing sugars ; starches is the best way to lose weight so minimizing all grains help. But brown rice is better than bread because it has a lower glycemic index (50 vs.71) ; lower carbohydrate density (see http://bit.Ly/1btzrp7). Bread also has gluten that some say stimulates appetite ; causes obesity, but this is not universally accepted. The less starches the better.See comment:. ...Read more

Should be fine...: A single protein bar after exercise per day with the proteins you are mentioning should be fine. A lot of protein bars have chemicals and other ingredients that aren't great if you are trying to eat "clean"; however, the added protein after a workout is actually a good way to increase the benefits of the strength training. ...Read more
I am an endomorph & follow a low carb high protein diet, why is it that i still gain weight if my carb sources come from grains (eg wholemeal bread)?
Protein and bread: Hi, in general, moderation goes a long way. (i know, the term "moderation" is so overused and hard to define. Still...). A high-protein diet combined with a small portions of bread can be a useful approach to managing weight. You might consider using breads that are lower in glycemic load, such as sprouted wheat (or "flourless") breads (available at trader joe's or ezekiel brand). ...Read more

Calories: 3500 calories is 1 pound, usually stored as fat in the body. If you ate total of 3500 calories over what your body burns you gained 1 lbs. If you ate a total of 7000 calories over what your body burns in a day, you gained 2 lbs of fat. 2.2 lbs is 1 kg. The rest of the weight gain is probably fluid/ stool. ...Read more
