Hello: what is the different between typical wenckebach and atypical wenckebach? Is one more or less dangerous/ serious?
Wenkebach: Am not aware of your terms. There are two forms. Type 1 can occur in normal individuals by certain drugs or heightened vagal tone. Prognosis is usually quite good. Type 2 is almost always due to organic disease involving the conduction system and may lead to complete heart block. A pacemaker may be required. ...Read more
Wenkebach: Morbitz 1 atrioventricular block (wenkebach) is common and usually benign, and asymptotic. Because you are only 28 it suggests that the electrical conduction system of your heart may be predisposed to disease. You need to follow up with a doctor to check periodically to make sure it does not get worse. ...Read more

I have asymptomatic wenckebach. Can I go on rollercoasters? I'm scared to but don't want it ruining my life
How long had it?: Wenckebach is not in and of itself dangerous and excitement should make it less significant. If it is a long-standing condition and there is no reason to believe it is getting worse then you need not worry about it. If you enjoy roller coasters, go ahead and ride. How long have you had this condition? ...Read more
I have asymptomatic wenckebach type 1. When I feel my pulse I feel it stop then start. Is that normal?
Yes it is normal: This type of heart block is not a serious or life threatening problem. It will be very typical to have skipped beats in this rhythm. I would suggest a 24 hour monitor of your heart rhythm to make sure there is no evidence of any other type of heart block or rhythm disturbance. Your primary doctor can easily order this test. ...Read more

None: If you ever pass out and it correlates with your heart rhythm, you'll need a pacemaker. But that's unlikely as Wenckebach doesn't usually progress or result in prolonged pauses. There is nothing you can do or avoid that will affect your heart rhythm positively or negatively. ...Read more

Mixed Terms: Your question is contradictory. Mobitz I is wenckebach. I suspect you meant 2nd degree heart block. In which case, yes, stimulants increase the overall heart rate, increasing the stress on the lower conduction system we call the his-purkinje system, and increasing the likelihood that it will block. If the problem improves with caffeine, the problem was likely at the av nodal level instead. ...Read more

Maybe: Mobitz type one can not resolve on its own however whether it does or does not does not affect the management. No indication for a pacemaker in mobitz type one. In addition if symptoms do develop on certain treatments such as beta blockers the only in management strategy at that point would be to stop this medication. ...Read more

Mobitz 2: Is that block wherein there is no specific pattern of block. There are dropped beats without a pattern. Some seem to have a pattern if 3very 2 beats is dropped but may not be. The problem is these dropped beats can go on to a 3rd degree block with no heartbeat. The treatment is a pacemaker. ...Read more
Hi I have recently had a holter moniter for 6 days which showed sinus rhythm throughout occasional pvcs and pacs and a few 1 degree heart blocks. Also isolated wenchebach at night could u help I am severely anxious that it's serious?
No: Nothing on your Holter monitor findings is life threatening. Having said that, not sure of the clinical scenario that prompted you to get one to start with, nor do I know your age and/or if u r on any medicines that may cause some of this as a side-effect. Either have a frank discussion with the doctor ordering and interpreting your Holter or request a consult on this platform. ...Read more
