Wellbutrin Addiction Reducing Agent
Does caffeine reduce the effect of psychotropic drugs? Particularly Effexor, Buspar, (buspirone) Trazodone, and Topamax.
No interaction but..: I ran the interaction checker and there is no known interaction between caffeine and any of the meds you mentioned. However, it is well known that caffeine disrupts sleep patterns and can increase anxiety either on it and while withdrawing from it. Therefore, it is best to cut caffeine to a very minimum ...Read more

All: Most all antidepressants can affect a person's normal sexual functioning at various different levels and in different ways. The antidepressants which affect serotonin can cause problems with the ability to have an orgasm. The one antidepressant which has the lowest risk for sexual side-effects is called buproprion or wellbutrin (bupropion). ...Read more
Mostly: Wellbutrin (bupropion) interferes with reuptake of dopamine&norepinephrine(noradrenaline)in the central nervous system, thereby leaving these neurotransmitters to sit longer&stronger in the synapse between communicating brain cells, which enhances dopamine&adrenaline activity at the cellular level. That can treat depression, feed pleasure to help sex&bypass tobacco, improve adhd&cognition, lower weight, etc. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Only noradrenergic antidepressant works for me, does inderal (propranolol) acts negative on noradrenergic effects of antidepressant ?At vasomotor centers.Regards.
Venlafaxine: It's not the vasomotor centers that are important in antidepressant response; it's the neuron synapses in the brain. Effexor (venlafaxine) inhibits reuptake of both serotonin and ne. Inderal can suppress some of the physical symptoms of anxiety (rapid heart rate, sweaty palms, tremulousness, etc). Some on chronic (not intermittent or "prn") Inderal have had more depression. Not everyone. You should be okay. ...Read more

Bipolar(controlled -lamictal, carbamazepine), anxiety-semi-under control (lorazepam, temazepam, cymbalta) and ADD problematic- considering Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) ?
So much medication: It might be necessary to take some drugs but I question the risks already and adding the new one is especially bad w/ cymbalta (duloxetine). It can cause severe anxiety! Also serotonin syndrome. Almost all of your meds combine to cause a host of symptoms like dizziness, confusion and general impairment. Please consider a good psych eval and adding good psychotherapy to lower need for Rx and help them work! ...Read more
Very different Rx: Absolutely not. Very different medications, given for very different reasons. ...Read more
Yes: Viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) is a new class of antidepressant. I have found it useful for anxiety as well as depression. It has different side effects than the others so might benefit people who didn't tolerate others well. No weight gain and maybe less sexual dysfunction, but can cause a lot of nausea and diarrhea and must be taken with food. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is Vyvanse and wellbutrin (bupropion) XL combo effective for treating ADHD (primarily inattentive) and major depression? Could this combo lower seizure threshold?
Yes and Yes...: Vyvanse is an excellent medication for adhd just as wellbutrin (bupropion) is and excellent medication for depression. Wellbutrin (bupropion) can be assoicated with seizures and should not be prescribed to those with a seizure disorder or lowered seizure threshold. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Several: Levodopa, which is used to treat parkinson's, encourages the brain to make dopamine. Tyrosine, an Amino Acid made from phenylalanine, is converted into levodopa, which is in turn converted to dopamine. Wellbutrin (bupropion) & the maoi's can also increase dopamine. Most tca's have minimal affinity for dat and thus don't increase Dopamine levels. Periwinkle and st. John's wort may also increase dopamine. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Tried ssri/xanax for depression/anxiety, bad reactions. I heard wellbutrin (bupropion) works on different brain chemicals than ssri's. Can wellbutrin (bupropion) help?
Wellbutrin (bupropion): Wellbutrin does work on different neurotransmitters than SSRI's - specifically norepinephrine and dopamine. That said, you mentioned using Xanax (alprazolam) in the past - and Wellbutrin does have an "activating" effect for many people. So, it's probably not the best option for you. I'd suggest seeing a psychiatrist to talk over all of the options available (sometimes dosing is the key). Good luck! ...Read more
How sertraline effects methylphenidate metabolism? Can be used to increasing ritalin half life?Best regards.
Marijuana plus ssri. Bad combination? The ssri is a follow up to nicotine deaddiction medication.
How can a medication like cymbalta (duloxetine) which raises norepinephrine help with anxiety as Cymbalta (duloxetine) is approved for general anxiety at 60 mg.?
Norepinephrine: Norepinephrine is one of the neurotransmitters involved in attention, pain perception, heart rate, activation of the "fight or flight" system, and many others. Cymbalta (duloxetine) is a weak NE reuptake inhibitor ... So, in theory, it keeps more NE from being recycled out of the brain. By keeping more NE, the effects of anxiety on the body are decreased (theoretically). Hope that helps & good luck! ...Read more
