My 2 year old daughter as had bright neon green parts in her poop she as not been eating that well she is not ill or anything should I be worried?
Normal variation: The stool color is provided by the bile from the liver that is adds to fecal debris. It starts out a deep green & slowly changes thru greens to yellows to browns as the germs in the intestines metabolize the bile. Green generally means the stool in question moved through faster or was subject to less change by gut germs. ...Read more

Could be: The first thing I would want to make sure is that your child is gaining weight appropriately and thriving. If that is the case, there are numerous things that could be of help, such as different formulas. That decision can be best made with your child's doctor who will know what formula your child is and/or has been on. Good luck. ...Read more

My baby is 4 months old and strictly breastfed. Why was there a long, green, mucusy, stringy thing in her poop?
Stool varies: Stool color, consistency etc. Varies with diet, hydration, viruses, etc. Granted the baby's diet hasn't changed, but sometimes the poop is effected by what mom eats. Sometimes it's a virus that turns stool green. The most important thing is that the baby continues to nurse/drink/void/stool well, and is acting normal. If everything else is fine, don't worry about a little green poop. ...Read more

Blackish stool: Dark colored or tarry stool always suggests the presence of blood in the stool. This must be evaluated by a physician even in a 22 year old. It might be inflammatory bowel disease, infection, or gastritis due to an ulcer. Is should be evaluated. Sometimes it is dark because people take pepto-bismol! Bile: The greenish color in stool is the breakdown product of the bile when it has not been in the gut long enough to go through a change to yellowish or brown. It is normal as is the loose consistency. Some digested material will take on a darker tint than others & the germs in the gut will also impact the final product. I'd ignore the whole issue. ...Read more
NOT SURE: Celiac disease won't cause a change in stool color. Perhaps you've ingested some food dyes that have altered the color. Hi there my poo has been runt now for over 12 months I eat good I am a bit worried can you help thanx?
I went to the toilet twice today and both times, the poo was a deep blue-green colour. Should I be worried?
Color rarely matters:
Stool color is variable among different people and can change according to what you eat and drink.
I advise people not to worry about the color of their stool as it has no medical implications unless there is blood in the stool. Stop looking at your stool for a while and it will all be fine. ...Read more

Pasty green ok: Pasty poo is fine. Military green poo is fine. It's not unusual to have some change in pattern with switching to formula. Half fix or whole?: If I understand the probiotic increases frequency of bowel movements but not the hard consistency. Question: "Is this okay? " In short, probably it is. If those things are better, IT IS OK. Namaste ...Read more
Could you tell me what black, coffee bean sized bits in poo could mean. And also white stringy stuff as well? Thank you.
Constipation: Small sized stool round in shape means it has been sitting in the colon for a long time and all the water is absorbed and has formed pebbles. Diarrhea caused by stool softner is probably water flowing around impacted stool. Have to cleanse the bowel. Avoid white flour, meat and use more green vegetables and fruits. Drink a lot of water. Treat constipation aggressively. See the dr. If not better. ...Read more
11wk bottlefed baby had lots ' dark brownish' mucus/jelly in poo. Dr won't test as he seems well. Started last wk small bits blood now heavy mucus?
Your blood: The most likely thing is that it is your blood that he is consuming while breast feeding. If you have any soreness, cracking or irritation of your nipples, they can bleed while he is nursing and he can actually swallow a significant amount of blood from this. If he is thriving, not vomiting, and his poo is just colored, i'd look to you first. ...Read more
