Most common: Causes of pruritus ani are caffeine and excess moisture. There is no correct amount of caffeine, so best to totally eliminate it for several weeks and allow area to heal, then reintroduce caffeine slowly to find your threshold. Lots of reasons:
There are lots of reasons for peri-anal itching. Most of them are not related to intestinal worms.
Certainly, pin worms can cause the symptoms you are describing, but my suspicion is that there is another cause.

I should be: That sensation is most likely inflammation of the tissue and skin around the anus which takes a few days to calm down even after the parasites have died. Give it some time. Since treatment has been started, at this point a cream like Proctosol may hasten relief of the itching.
