How scientifically-based do you think weight watchers is? It calculates points based on protein, fat, carbs, fiber. Fruits/vegs have no points.

OK but...: This is ok but if you really want to lose weight you might avoid the bread as less carbs will help; some feel gluten causes obesity so rice or quinoa might be better. Gaining weight: That's great that you are not consuming a lot of carbs and are watching your diet. You also need to look at the overall quantity (and calories) of what you are eating as well. Are you exercising too? Without physical activity (cardio), it is hard to lose weight. You have to burn more calories than you are consuming. No: The sugar in the cake and icing is what your body will use for energy. If you deprive your diet of these simple sugars and other carbohydrates, then it is forced to draw upon your own fat stores for energy rather than leaving your stored fat energy where it is.
