Is it safe for eating food grade diatomaceous earth for parasite problem? How much should I take for each day? What should I be caution for?

Health benefits of diatomaceous earth?

Health benefits of diatomaceous earth?

Less parasites: It helps to reduce parasites in chickens, and many experts believe this is due to its negative charge and cylindrical shape. The thinking behind this is that positively charged bacteria and parasites (plus some viruses) may be attracted to it like magnets are attracted to one another. Because of its shape, the pathogens get trapped in the center and carried out of the body. ...Read more

How could diatomaceous earth human food grade affect pica? Will it increase the pica?

How could diatomaceous earth human food grade affect pica? Will it increase the pica?

Diatomaceous earth: Some people tout food-grade diatomaceous earth as a digestive cleanser. It will not be harmful, but I'm not sure it's really needed. Pica involves compulsively eating non-nutritive substances like clay and dirt. The makers of food grade diatomaceous earth claim that use of their products may even help pica, rather than increasing it. I could find no studies addressing this -- sorry! ...Read more

Not serious: Diatomite is an amorphous form of silica that is relatively non toxic. In contrast, inhaled crystalline silica is toxic, and Acute Silicosis from exposure to high concentrations can develop within a few weeks or several years after exposure. I used diatomaceous earth yesterday and my mother with lung cancer is breathing heavy in spurts?

I used diatomaceous earth yesterday and my mother with lung cancer is breathing heavy in spurts?

She needs a doctor!: Diotomaceous earth contains very fine particles called silica, which can be inhaled and cause lung irritation. However, this doesn't cause sudden symptoms. Since your mother is breathing differently and she has lung cancer, she needs to see her cancer doctor as soon as possible. It probably has nothing to do with the diatomaceous earth and everything to do with her underlying lung cancer. ...Read more

You hear so much about natural remedies for cleansing and detox; like probiotics, lemon water, honey, diatomaceous earth, essential oils, etc. Do they really work?

You hear so much about natural remedies for cleansing and detox; like probiotics, lemon water, honey, diatomaceous earth, essential oils, etc. Do they really work?

No, not that way: Humans, designed or evolved over millions of years, are self-cleaning. That means we should eat what we are designed to eat, and our bodies will clear out unneeded materials without help. No supplements are needed, unless one wants extra fiber to move the bowels better. Proper diet, enough exercise, and a healthy mind should normalize bowels. Diseases may need treatment, but seldom supplements. ...Read more

How fast will you lose weight using something like the gym ball weight loss workout?

How fast will you lose weight using something like the gym ball weight loss workout?

Weight loss: Exercise in the gym can vary as intensity changes. Good vigorous exercise may burn between 400 and 800 cal/hr but that is very vigorous exercise indeed. 1 pound of fat is equivalent to 3500 cal so you can do the math and see that it will take roughly 7 days of intense exercise to lose 1 pound of fat. Some of your short-term weight loss may be just fluid shifts and not represent true weight loss. ...Read more
