Your child and the family can certainly be educated regarding a healthy diet and a healthy life style. That should be the first step. Following a healthy diet and getting 60 minutes a day of aerobic activity daily will result in weight loss. As far as a specific program, one maybe beneficial, however, I would discuss any program with your child's doctor.
