Missed 2 periods,gained weight despite diet&exercise,few spotting on 3rd month,is this period?still bloated&weight gain& muscle pain
(-ve pregnancy)

Probably: If the pregnancy test is negative then the bleeding probably represents a period - an abnormal one. Since you have missed 2 periods and the 3rd one is abnormal I would recommend seeing your doctor to have your hormones checked and an exam. ...Read more

It seems since taking asacol (mesalamine) hd i've experience weight gain and accumulated belly fat despite diet and exercise. Could this be caused by the med?

Unlikely : Most of the research reports quite a few side effects from Asacol (mesalamine) hd, but weight gain is not mentioned as a reported side effect. It does note, however that increased appetite and abdominal distinction can occur, but not often. Perhaps these last two possible side effects are contributing to your symptom. Might be a good idea to discuss this further with your doctor. ...Read more

Consult your Doctor: Your doctor may recommend changing medications, there are several with similar effects and some are less likely to cause weight gain than others. Good diet, exercise, tried everything in the world, can't lose weight, gain a few pounds; ate "junk" food and lost a few pounds. What is this?!

An attempt: to justify the eating of junk food rather than significantly decreasing your total food intake, eating high quality food and exercising more to lose weight and live healthier the rest of your life. You're looking at a coincidence to justify your current unhealthy behavior. ...Read more

Can you prevent the side effect of weight gain from lyrica (pregabalin) with exercise and good diet?

Can you prevent the side effect of weight gain from lyrica (pregabalin) with exercise and good diet?

Not directly: The way that Lyrica (pregabalin) causes weight gain is not directly offset naturally. However minimizing salt intake and exercising are certainly excellent strategies for all chronic pain patients. This begs the question why you are on this agent and is it the best approach. Thus I would encourage you to discuss this with your MR at length and explain your concerns about weight gain. Keep us updated. ...Read more

Need to be checked: Thanks for asking as this suggests something is changing in your body. It helps that you have already considered many things that can affect weight. Other things can as well, including some medical problems like thyroid disease, and even heart failure. But likely you would have some other things happening as well, and thyroid disease does not usually cause rapid weight gain. Best to get good exam. ...Read more
