I've had an annoying twitch in my right thumb for two days. Its not painful or showing any sign of weakness. Should I be concerned and see a dr?

No worries right now: No need to push panic buttons. Sometimes, a part of the body gets into a "twitchy mood" for no apparent reason & it goes on even for a couple of days as you describe but then, stops. Generally, nobody will be able to find a cause and life goes on. You may wish to avoid using that hand to hold grenade pins down and defer being the RACE TIMER for your kid's track meet until it stops. LOL. ...Read more

If still having pinch weakness in my sprained thumb 1 week after injuring, does it indicate my ligament is ruptured, or is this normal for a sprain?

It depends: It all depends on the severity of the injury and physical examination to suspect a rupture. Acute and subacute pain (caused by a sprain or strain) can inhibit the muscle action and cause weakness. Visit your doctor for an evaluation and advance imaging if needed. Hope this helps, www.Otwithmd. Com. ...Read more

On and off head numbness past few days and 1 occurrence of right thumb paralysis temporarily whilst weakness in index and middle finger causes?

On and off head numbness past few days and 1 occurrence of right thumb paralysis temporarily whilst weakness in index and middle finger causes?

Head numbness?: The differential includes cerebral vasospasm, TIA due to hypotrension or cardiac arrhythmia with a fixed stenotic lesion, acephalgic migraine and focal seizure. Focal seizure is less likely because of the absence of initial "positive symptoms" (Parasthesias) If the head numbness and hand symptoms are unrelated think CTS. If deficits last 24 hours or greater think MS or ICS (not quite MS) ...Read more

A housecat bit me on my thumb 5 days ago. Had stitches. Small holes are festering. I'm taking penicillin. Why is my whole hand weak? Can't make a fist

Due to infection: I am concerned that penicillin is not the best choice to treat this infection, and house cats due harbor lots of infections (dogs have far safer saliva, in general). Would contact your doctor, and maybe see infectious disease specialist. Do not delay, as you may be developing a cellulitis, and may require incision and drainage. ...Read more

My left thumb got fracture, so how much time it take to recover and am having tournment in november 1st weak so what u say can I play...?

Depends: It depends on what type of thumb fracture and location. Is the fracture displaced or angulated? Is there an associated ligament tear? Does the fracture involve a joint? What type of tournament? Is this your dominant hand? Can you wear a protective brace during the event? Most low-risk fractures heal in about 6 weeks. Your physician should be able to help you with these decisions. ...Read more

Left wrist weakness with no tingling/numbness. Pain/discomfort when wrist is rubbed at base of the thumb and when bent. Emg, X-ray and MRI are normal.

Occupational therapy: It seems that you are already seeing a neurologist and they have ruled out common neurological causes of wrist and hand pain. See an occupational therapist who may be able to help. Diagnosing such conditions can be challenging and sometimes take several months and repeated follow up. In the meanwhile pain management is recommended and various classes of different analgesics may have to be tried. ...Read more
