Weak Thumb Symptoms
I've had an annoying twitch in my right thumb for two days. Its not painful or showing any sign of weakness. Should I be concerned and see a dr?
No worries right now: No need to push panic buttons. Sometimes, a part of the body gets into a "twitchy mood" for no apparent reason & it goes on even for a couple of days as you describe but then, stops. Generally, nobody will be able to find a cause and life goes on. You may wish to avoid using that hand to hold grenade pins down and defer being the RACE TIMER for your kid's track meet until it stops. LOL.
Need more info: Weakness of the thumb can be caused by injury to the median nerve - one of major nerves that innervates part of your hand. However, it's impossible to know how to address this problem without more information about the nature of your injury.
My left fingers are weak weaken and curved. My right thumb has a bulge. Could it be something serious?
Bad news: When you have dislocated thumb that not good, you should check out and treated. Thank you.See 1 more doctor answer
My left thumb has been twitching all day continually the the past 3 days. My arm is weak and at times feels heavy. Should I be worried?
YES: You don't give your age or any history, but if you are over about 40 or have had any neck or head injury or smoke or have any high blood pressure, cholesterol problems or are on BCPs or have any family history that makes you susceptible to stroke, you need to be seen. NOW! It may be absolutely nothing. Or it could be devastating. Don't take any chances. You're covered, please go get an exam!See 1 more doctor answer

Last4 days both thumbs are weak/hurt when I pick things up-i press down between thumb/pointer finger it hurts in the muscle areause the computer a lot lately how can I strengthen & lessen pain im 27?
My left thumb had a bad cramp and I couldn't move it. Now both pointer fingers and my thumb feel weak and hurts when I use force. What happened?
I'm so scared. 37 year old female. Noticed my thumb twitched a couple times within the week and now my arm feels weak. Could it be Parkinson's?
Not parkinsons: You need to talk to a neurologist for more details but no Parkinson's does not cause weakness, it causes tremor at rest, cogwheel rigidity and slowness of movement
If still having pinch weakness in my sprained thumb 1 week after injuring, does it indicate my ligament is ruptured, or is this normal for a sprain?
It depends: It all depends on the severity of the injury and physical examination to suspect a rupture. Acute and subacute pain (caused by a sprain or strain) can inhibit the muscle action and cause weakness. Visit your doctor for an evaluation and advance imaging if needed. Hope this helps, www. What's difference between a ganglion and carpul tunnel? Have painful lump inside rt wrist. Thumb side of wrist weak, no injury.
On and off head numbness past few days and 1 occurrence of right thumb paralysis temporarily whilst weakness in index and middle finger causes?
Head numbness?: The differential includes cerebral vasospasm, TIA due to hypotrension or cardiac arrhythmia with a fixed stenotic lesion, acephalgic migraine and focal seizure. Focal seizure is less likely because of the absence of initial "positive symptoms" (Parasthesias) If the head numbness and hand symptoms are unrelated think CTS. If deficits last 24 hours or greater think MS or ICS (not quite MS)
Lump in crease of elbow. Lump it self does not have pain under it tingly to my wrist pointer and thumb. Arm as a whole has weakness and aches?
Neuroma?: Time to see your Dr for examination to determine why you are having unusual symptoms in your arm. Cannot tell definitively over Internet--might be lymph node over / pushing on nerve, could be growth or cyst from nerve, could be from prior trauma or even infection--needs a good history and exam to know for certain.
Both my wrists ache, all the way to my thumbs. They get weak, numb worse at night and waking up in the morning. What type of doctor should I see?
See details: See a rheumatologist or orthopedist. You likely have carpal tunnel syndromes and a tendinitis.
A housecat bit me on my thumb 5 days ago. Had stitches. Small holes are festering. I'm taking penicillin. Why is my whole hand weak? Can't make a fist
Due to infection: I am concerned that penicillin is not the best choice to treat this infection, and house cats due harbor lots of infections (dogs have far safer saliva, in general). Would contact your doctor, and maybe see infectious disease specialist. Do not delay, as you may be developing a cellulitis, and may require incision and drainage.
My left thumb got fracture, so how much time it take to recover and am having tournment in november 1st weak so what u say can I play...?
Depends: It depends on what type of thumb fracture and location. Is the fracture displaced or angulated? Is there an associated ligament tear? Does the fracture involve a joint? What type of tournament? Is this your dominant hand? Can you wear a protective brace during the event? Most low-risk fractures heal in about 6 weeks. Your physician should be able to help you with these decisions.See 1 more doctor answer
I sprained my thumb 7 weeks ago and it is still sore and weak. I have sprained this thumb at least 18 times since childhood. Should I see my doctor?
Yes: Be assessed. There are fractures that are involved with ligamentous damage and it is important those ligaments are reattached again to make your thumb strong. All the best. Stay in good health.See 3 more doctor answers
Left wrist weakness with no tingling/numbness. Pain/discomfort when wrist is rubbed at base of the thumb and when bent. Emg, X-ray and MRI are normal.
Occupational therapy: It seems that you are already seeing a neurologist and they have ruled out common neurological causes of wrist and hand pain. See an occupational therapist who may be able to help. Diagnosing such conditions can be challenging and sometimes take several months and repeated follow up. In the meanwhile pain management is recommended and various classes of different analgesics may have to be tried.See 1 more doctor answer
