The blood is first filtered by the kidneys, and the composition of the resulting fluid is then altered depending on the body's needs. It is composed of mostly water, and breakdown products from blood cells impart ...Read more
3 urine test within couple months and blood in my urine my rbc urine level is 1 have had bence jones labs done that also detected some levels in urine?
Bence jones protein: BJ proteins if seen in urine, probably need further evaluation with a hematologist (blood specialist) who will order more tests, usually blood tests. Based on their assessment plus a complete history, interview and physical exam they will be able to tell you if it needs treatment immediately or whether you can continue watching it for awhile. ...Read more
15 km run in the heat i had cola coloured urine.Next urine clear bloodwork 2 weeks later showed illdefined faint band IgM k.I am 48with chronic itp?
See a doctor: The cola colored urine may have been either from bleeding due to underlying itp, to myoglobinuria (due to breakdown of muscle tissue during the run), to highly concentrated urine discolored by something you ate, or who knows? If you have chronic itp you must be very cautious about situations in which bleeding may occur. You should be seen closely by a hematologist or rheumatologist. Good luck. ...Read more

Let's try this...: I have only a little bit of the story you've shared. Perhaps it's time to see whether the ast and alt get back to normal after two weeks off alcohol and any not-totally-necessary meds you may be taking. If so, this is the start of a healthier life after alcohol. If not, the workup for virus infections, iron overload, wilson's, autoimmunity & need for exercise can begin. Good luck. ...Read more
20 weeks pregnant. Four rounds of antibiotics for uti. Dipstic showed WBC and blood in urine. Painful UTI symptoms. But culture is negative? What else
Uncle!SeeASpecialist: How frustrating!! Wow...First, some women can have symptoms but negative routine cultures which can either mean some non-infectious irritation for some reason or an"atypical"organism that requires a special culture &/or trial of an unusual antibiotic. Sometimes it's a problem in the urethra & not the bladder (irritative or infective). You might consider a Urologist especially since you're pregnant ...Read more
I am in my first trimester, my routine urine analysis shows blood detected, wbc, RBC and bacteria count-14500 and epithelial cells 137. What it mean?
For 57+ F with Hb 10.6, RBC 3.6, Pt 1.2L & ESR 51 while normal MCV & MCHC, does Ferritin 35 [4 - 204] indicate iron deficiency or haemolytic anemia ?
Blood work showed lymph's @ 16.9% with reference range of 20.0 - 50.0. Platelet count was 65 with reference range150-400 thou/u. What could this mean?
Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, if your absolute lymphocyte count is low then along with the low platelet count it suggests a problem with production in the bone marrow. It would be prudent to consult a hematologist. ...Read more
Just took i123 this morning, no restrictions. I go bak in the morning for uptake scan. Tsh 0.17 T4 1.6 thyroglobulin <20 antibodies 16 some clarity. ?
Thyroid scan: It is hard to tell from your question and bio what your doctor is thinking. The scan will 1. Measure uptake. High uptake is consistent with hyperthyroidism, eg graves disease. 2. Give an image. Diffuse uptake (i.e. All over) suggests graves. Patchy could be a nodular goiter, or hashimotos. Have you been hyperthyroid? Talk to your endocrinologist. ...Read more
High monocyte %, manual count in toddler. All other results on CBC normal, mono CT 16. Cause for concern?
Not necessarily: The monocytes are often up some in a variety of viral illnesses but less commonly than the lymphocytes. Infectious mononucleosis does occur in a muted ( less intense) form in toddlers & the usual mono blood test can be negative until months after the illness has passed. If the kid is cruising around enjoying life i would ignore the test & get back to living. ...Read more
Urine test results: urine blood 3+, urine protein trace. Are these normal, or should I be concerned? Currently being worked up for low h/h (7.2/27)
Follow advice: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, 3+ blood in urine and h/h of 7.2/27 are not normal. Make sure to follow your doctor's advice about tests and treatments. ...Read more
No, that's abnormal: By definition, those things in urine are abnormal. Urine is normally sterile, and doesn't have red cells, white cells, bacteria, or protein in it. This depends though, on whether the sample was contaminated with fluids from the external genitalia in females, or possibly residual semen in the urethra of men. This test was ordered by someone for some reason. Ask the doc who ordered the test about it ...Read more
