Doctor insights on:
Wbc Esterase 3
What does WBC Esterase 3+, Occult Blood-Trace, Appearance-Cloudy, Epithelial Cells (non-renal) >10, WBC 11-30, on a routine urinalysis mean?
I have urinalysis test results with cloudy urine, mucus present, wbc >30 WBC Esterase +3 epithelial cells non renal >10 I don’t have any UTI symptom?
Why was UA done?:
All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, a person can have urinary infection and not have symptoms. Please discuss the results with the doctor who ordered the test.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.

I had a urinalysis done, it showed wbc esterase 3+ with bacteria but no UTI. I also have loss of appetite, weight loss, nausea, vomitting and I keep g?
Hello, what does it mean in a urine exam when the WBC esterase is +3. WBC 11-30, , Epethelial cells (non renal) >10, bacteria cells many abnormal?
Not a mystery: Hi. You have a urinary tract infection (UTI), probably just a bladder infection, but possibly an upper urinary tract infection (much sicker). Whoever ordered your UA and microscopic will assess your status and treatment needs based on more information than is available to us. Get well soon! ...Read more
Occult blood 3+, protein 2+, rbc 20-40, wbc packed, leukocyte esterase 3+, bacteria few, squamous epithelial cells 6-10. All else Norm. What does this mean.
Probable UTI: "All else normal"?? What's left? That's most of the urinalysis. It strongly suggests you have a urinary tract infection. It could be an STD, if at risk, but less likely. Certain non-infectious kidney diseases could cause these things. But UTI is by far the best bet. Discuss with the doctor who ordered the test; probably you need an antibiotic prescription. ...Read more
Urobilinogen Qualitative Urine 2.0mg/dL, Leukocytes Esterase Urine 75 WBC/uL, WBC Urine 11-25/HPF, RBC Urine 2-5/HPF. What does all this mean?
What do these test results mean? CO2 20 LO, ALT 36 HI, MPV 12.1 HI, Ketone, Urine 3+, 80 mg/dL, *Leukocyte Esterase MODERATE *, WBC, Urine 5-10 HI
Discuss results: The Dr who ordered the test needs to provide feedback to you in a way that clarifies the impact on your Dx and Tx options. It should make sense to you or it is not a finished piece of work. Get a consult and perhaps bring someone along to help you understand and remember the details. ...Read more
I just find out that I have one kidney bigger than the other, urine as been tested and sign of blood and my leucocyte esterase is 25 wbc/ul, ?
Here are some....: The significance of discrepancy in kidney size remains to be defined by detailed history stressing sequence of events, but most likely not important or even relevant at age 50. As to 25 WBC/ml in UA, one has to make sure the tested urine was properly collected especially in females. More on? UTI...? Go to articles in http://formefirst. Com/onUTI. Html. More? How abnormal is 5-10 for WBC in a urine test? I am curious about a small abnormality on my physical: the results of the urine chem/microscopy say “trace” of leukocyte esterase (reference range: negative) and a “flag” says ab. Following that the WBC is “ab
A few white blood cells in the urine of a female patient is very common, especially if the urine sample was not collected in particular manner. If a physician is interested in getting urine from a woman's bladder that has not been contaminated by passing through the vagina, which normally contains bacteria and white blood cells, the sample should be collected by asking the woman to use a antiseptic towelette to wipe the vagina while spreading the inner labia, then to urinate into the toilet for a second, stop urinating, then urinate into the specimen cup.
If you didn't collect the urine in this manner, then it's more than likely that the white blood cells are from the vagina, not the bladder as are the bacteria and the leuk esterase. If it is noted that there were squamous epithelial cells in the urine, then it's even more likely, because those cells are found only in the vagina, not the bladder.
Back pain is a common symptom, and occasionally it is the sole symptom of a urinary tract infection, but not usually. Most of the time people with utis will have pain on urination or frequency of urination, fevers, or pain on the sides of their back.
If you have any of these (fever, urinary pain or frequency, or pain on the sides of your back) or if the middle back pain persists for more than a week, you should see a doctor.
But the biggest thing here is, the physician who ordered the urine test should be available and eager to answer your question. ...Read more

If >100 squamous epithelial cells/lpf indicates contamination of urine specimen, do I still need worry abt high wbc, pos leukocyte esterase & mucous?
My urine test finding were WCB Esterase trace, Leukocytes 25 WBC 6-10, epithet non renal >10. I was dealing with a yeast infection. Is there more?
Physical shows I have high lymphs, WBC esterase, wbc, and crystals in urine. But no nitrites or bacteria present. No pain. What causes sterile pyuria?
Hi I received a urinalysis test result with abnormal +2 ketones, +1 blood, 2+ leukocyte esterase, and above high normal 2+ WBC. No bacteria seen.?
Urinalysis: The ketones may have been because you were fasting when collecting the urine, or perhaps you are diabetic and blood sugar not in good control. The leukocytes were probably from vaginal secretions unless you had a clean assisted midstream catch urine. You do not say if you have any symptoms. Lab values without a clinical context are not very valuable. ...Read more
Had blood and urinalysis 7/15. Blood work was all normal but urine showed creatinine level of 409, trace protein, trace leukocyte esterase, WBC, hyali?
Stop worrying: I understand you have fibromuscular dysplasia of the renal arteries and hope this can be addressed. The urine creatinine, trace protein and hyaline casts are non-issues, the trace of leukocyte esterase and white cells (unless very numerous or you have symptoms of infection) are likely contamination, and if your physician is not concerned, I would not be either. Best wishes. ...Read more
Bacteria was positive in my blood, leukocyte esterase was positive, WBCS was 5-9hpf, and I am experiencing flank pain. Is this a possible kidney infe?
Hello. What to make of labs? Leukocyte Esterase +1, Squamous Epithelial Cells moderate, WBCs 1-5, RBCs 1-5, Clarity slightly cloudy. Blood: e-GFR 102, C-reactive protein 1.7 (I'm usually 0). Thanks!
Labs: Hello, you don't state what is being checked specifically, but this looks like urine that has been contaminated with a vaginal discharge (leuk est+1, squam epi mod and few RBCs) and blood test with CRP (slight elevation) and GFR is reduced but within normal range. I would repeat UA if you have symptoms and get CLEAN CATCH! Thanks ...Read more

GFR - 117.35, Albumin-4.6, leukocyte esterase-positive, urine WBC-25. Cud this indicate kidney disease? No symptoms of UTI. ANY suggestions?
My urinalysis results came back normal except: WBC Esterase 2+ WBC 11-30 Crystals: Amorphous Sediment I also have mild flank pain. Kidney stones?
You may have renal stones as this entity cannot be excluded, however, your findings may be due to crystals in urine. Try drinking enough water everyday so that your urine is colorless and repeat the test in 3-4 months.
