Wbc Count Ranges
Why is japan standard for WBC count range so low at ~ 8500? I got 10120 at a regular health check & i was advised to get advanced checkup. Im worried.
See below...: The normal WBC range is generally 4000-11000. So yours is still within normal limits but at the higher end. It is also higher than your previous values. If you currently have a runny nose, it may be an infection. Check again after symptoms disappear, it should go down. Normal black and middle eastern persons may have lower wbc. Unaware of different standard in japan, but may vary by lab. ...Read more
Treat disease: The WBC count is usually high or low as a consequence of an underlying condition; therefore, treating the condition should bring it back within the normal range. Without knowing exactly what causes it to be abnormal, it is impossible to tell what can be done to bring it back to normal. ...Read more
Is there any indication of HIV seroconversion in the CBC? I tested negative after 8 weeks of exposure. But can be window period. Wbc count is in range
Usually not: The absolute lymphocyte count may drop off as the T4 cells vanish, and/or there may be numerous activated lymphocytes / virocytes. Don't bet your health and the health of others on this. You describe fever, swollen glands, and lethargy; the smart money at your age is infectious mono which may not be positive on the labs yet, but if there's any doubt, get a HIV PCR to be sure. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Yes: The white blood cell (WBC) count is unrelated to colon cancer risk or presence. Colon cancer can be screened for by a variety of tests including stool blood (fob), stool dna, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and virtual colonoscopy. See your md for screening recommendations individualized to you. If you have symptoms that is not screening, but diagnostic. ...Read more
My WBC count is usually at the higher end of the normal range (10-11,000). What could be the cause of this?
It's you: One known cause of such minor lab variabilities is slightly decreased affinity between the receptors that bind neutrophils and the vessel walls. More are circulating because fewer are hanging out on the sides. If you feel well, I hope you will not give this any more worry. Nothing ever comes of these trivial anomalies. ...Read more
Can recurrent boils/furnaces cause recurrent high WBC count? All 7 labs I have had over 3 years have shown a high WBC. Range from 10 to 20 each test.
Depends: If the white blood cell count is performed while you have a significant skin/ soft tissue infection, the WBC's may be elevated, but I am not sure that would explain a WBC count in the range of 20,000. Best to have complete blood count (CBC) done when there is no obvious infection. If elevated, would see a hematologist for evaluation. ...Read more
Hello Doc In My CBC Test I See That My WBC Count Always Fluctuates Bt It Is Always In Range Is This Is Normal??
Likely: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, there is normal fluctuation on WBC counts. ...Read more
