I have had watery diarrhea for 2 days, there is almost nothing solid. I have had colitis in the past but the symptoms feel completely different.?
Diarrhea: There are many potential causes for this. One of the more common is viral infection with agents like norwalk, rotovirus, etc. Of course, clostridium difficile is also a worry. Would wait a few days and if this does not clear see a doctor. In the interim stay well hydrated. The term "colitis" simply means inflammation of the colon (large bowel) and does not address the cause. Good luck. ...Read more

See a doctor: You may have viral (or bacterial) gastroenteritis. Considering the amount of watery diarrhea you have passed, I highly recommend evaluation by a physician to determine your complete metabolic profile (CMP), provide IV hydration, and evaluate for possible infectious causes (CBC, stool studies), thus determining the need for antibiotics. Probably not: Pancreatic disorders may cause loose stool. They are not the most common cause. In the office, I would suggest a probiotic or yogurt daily as well as citrucel daily. You may also have a food allergy or sensitivity, consider keeping a food diary to track triggers. Medications frequently cause diarrhea- not sure you take any.
