Anatomy: As you have been told in plain and patient english this is an impossible scenario. There is absolutely no way for this proposed scenario to be real or possible. It is not possible. That is 100% accurate. Given your age and this concern I am very worried about your mental health. I think you may need to be seen urgently by your family doctor or by a psychiatrist. ...Read more

Doubt it: Don't recommend use of alcohol or Hydrogen Peroxide to clean piercings as they may cause the surrounding skin to dry out excessively. New piercings are usually cleaned twice a day. Do not twist jewelry / post. Saturate gauze w saline solution (pinch of sea salt in warm water), place on piercing & allow it to gently drip into the piercing. Or you can buy pressurized saline solution ...Read more
Bad ear pain. Nurse cleaned out wax. Doc said fluid behind drum and inf ear canal. How? I'm not sick. Ideas?
Outer ear infection: With otitis externa, you don't always feel 'sick'. You will, however, have wicked ear pain. The wax plug can trap moisture and set up the infection/inflammation. If there is fluid behind the ear drum, that's a middle ear infection and may also be without symptoms. You should have been given drops to treat the outer ear infection and scheduled for a follow-up on the fluid. ...Read more
No: Swimmer's ear is misnomer for external otitis. This is an infection, dermatitis of the skin of the external ear canal. A cotton ball would only help if you want to prevent water from getting into the ear canal. External otitis may be the result of swimming, but is often the result from q-tip usage, fungal infections, bacterial infections, all involving the outer ear. No cotton balls won't help. ...Read more
Be careful: If there is any chance of a perforation you want to be careful about using OTC ear drops as you don't want "just anything" going into the middle ear. Please consider seeing your primary care doctor to make sure a perforation isn't the case, prior to putting anything into your ear. Best of luck. ...Read more
Don't do it: If you have wax stuck on your eardrum don't use a syringe. You first have to soften the wax with the use of over-the-counter wax softening agents. Then syringing might be helpful. In general i discourage my patients from doing anything to their ears as invariably they make things worse. My preference would be for you to see an ENT doctor to have him or her take care of it. ...Read more

Otorrhea: What can happen with an ear tube in place is that the water goes through the tube into the middle ear and causes an infection in the middle ear. This then drains out into the ear canal(called otorrhea with intact tympanostomy tube). It is best treated with antibiotic ear drops that an ENT doctor can prescribe for you. ...Read more
Negative pressure : In order for the ear to work properly air from the outside of the ear drum has to be balanced by air on the inside of the eardrum. In an intact ear drum the only way for air to get into the middle ear space is up the eustachian tube. If the eustachian tube doesn't work well the air inside the middle ear gets used up creating a negative pressure. Eventually this pressure can become so low that fluid is sucked from the lining of the middle ear space. ...Read more

Eustachian Tube: A clogged ear with no infection or fluid in the ear is usually the result of a poorly functioning eustachian tube.
