I am 40 weeks pregnant & for 2 days I been having clear white watery discharge with cramps does that mean my water broke?

I am 40 weeks pregnant & for 2 days I been having clear white watery discharge with cramps does that mean my water broke?

Possibly: Two things could be happening. It is possible that you have a small leak at this point or that your are experiencing an increase in clear discharge the closer you come to delivering. I would recommend seeing your OBGYN in order to do a test (Fern Test) to check if amniotic fluid is leaking. ...Read more

Yes: The treatment for early rupture of membranes in this stage of pregnancy is antibiotics and monitoring for signs of intrauterine infection. The antibiotics chosen are usually safe for the baby or they wouldn't be used in this situation. ...Read more

How can I know for sure if my water broke?

Tests: Unless its obvious, there really isn't a good way to know at home unless you have a midwife who can run some tests. If you go to the hospital, there are several tests that can be done to know if your water is really broken. Sometimes its obvious--a huge gush of water that soaks your clothing and gets on the carpet and won't stop for example. Best wishes! ...Read more

What does it mean when if your 'water broke'?

What does it mean when if your 'water broke'?

SROM - EMERGENCY!: Rupture of membranes whether spontaneous at term (srom) or even worse preferment/premature (pprom) is a pregnancy emergency. It typically heralds labor and delivery within a few hours to a week. The longer the interval latency period the greater the risk for serious or even life-threatening infections. See your obstetrician or midwife emergently to avoid complications. Smoking predisposed to pprom. ...Read more

Should I be worried if my wife's water broke at 33wks and 2 day!?

Should I be worried if my wife's water broke at 33wks and 2 day!?

Yes - not too much.: Preterm premature rupture of membranes is a dire complication of pregnancy when it occurs before 28-32 weeks. After that point, it is still a problem in need of urgent management in the hospital, however you should expect great outcomes for mom and baby with proper care and reasonably good luck! Go to the hospital immediately for urgent care. ...Read more

Can you still feel if your water broke during the shower? Asap plzz

Can you still feel if your water broke during the shower? Asap plzz

Depends...: If your water breaks as a gush of about a quart of fluid, you'll notice. If it's a leak, you might not. But the leak will likely keep on trickling. The real key to this question is: how far along in your pregnancy are you? If you are pre-term, i.e., less than 37 weeks, call your doctor. If at term, see what develops. Likely, you'll start having contractions and be on your way soon. Good luck. Lg. ...Read more

How do you know for sure that your water broke, can it happen before you have any pain?

How do you know for sure that your water broke, can it happen before you have any pain?

Yes it can.: Prelabor rupture of membranes is not rare and occurs pretty much without any warning or pain; a large gush of fluid (usually clear with a yellow tinge similar to dilute urine) wets your underwear and drips to the floor. It is usually mistaken for urinary incontinence episode, which is also not rare with advanced pregnancy. An examination by your obstetrician in the er will tell one way or another. ...Read more

It's been 5 days since water broke. Today I'm at 25wk4day, fluid is 2cm. Baby was 780g before now 670g. What's the best for baby?

Tough call..: I am sorry you had pprom around viability. I hope you are hospitalized and appropriately cared for by a maternal-fetal medicine specialist adjacent to a nicu on ampicillin/erythromycin and after Betamethasone and prn magnesium sulfate. I pray that your pregnancy continues until 32-34 weeks, but it probably won't. Keep a positive attitude and put your faith in god and your perinatal care team! ...Read more

I don't know if I should worry. I have little bit liquid coming out, I don't know if. My water broke

Call doc if not sure: If there is a continuous watery discharge then your water may have broken and you should go to labor and delivery. If the discharge is mucous it may be your mucous plug. It is normal to pass this as your cervix opens. Many people will also leak small amounts of urine. If you are not sure though you should be evaluated by your doctor. ...Read more

37wks, 3cm dilatead, had first kid an hour after water broke, worried if I wait to go to hospital till my water breaks won't have time for epidureal?

Contractions?: If you're 37 weeks you probably still have a while to go. You can be 3 cm for days or weeks. Are you contracting? Was your last labor very fast? I would have a low threshold for heading into the hospital, but wait until you are leaking fluid or having more contractions. Good luck! ...Read more
